  • Firstly, if Panasonic market it as splash proof, the conditions described if accurate, should not be counted as abuse. But I'm curious as to how you all shoot in the rain effectively without...
  • Hmmm... image samples look good but not really look much better than what I get out of my 190gram $129 Olympus 40-150mm.

Oh well, I don't shoot much tele anyway. Good to have options.

  • Replied in Both, of course!
The quality of the 7-14mm in a size somewhere between it and the 9-18mm. You must have an incredible 17-40mm because I've owned three copies and all of them needed F11 to sharpen up corners! My...
  • But still looks like a 'stop down to F5.6-8 for good results' type lens and is less compatible with the NEX-7. For me, I found the speed of my 12mm F2 was the better option, especially when its...
  • I'm looking forward to hitting the Tongaririo crossing again in late October.
  • I've ever used - fantastic blend of portability, quality and flexibility. first 2/3rds of my below gallery link is all with EM5 - 12mm / 20mm / 45mm and...
  • Are imperceptible in IQ unless you pull shadows over 1.5 stops (which I don't really do). Its certainly of no consequence whatsoever when the range of fast, sharp lenses and IBIS are thrown into...
  • Than people who buy cheap DSLR's at Walmart because they are... big and cheap?
  • It is only relevant for sports photography which most people don't do. If you can't make compelling images with entry level interchangeable lens cameras from 5 years ago, gear isn't your...
  • ...and my shooting. If the EM1 really has another stop of High ISO performance, that would be incredible, maybe half a stop of DR, good times indeed, I won't complain. 16MP (being sharp edge to...
  • To go with my 12 / 20 / 45 - I could get rid of the 40-150 (which is actually surprisingly competent, although slow).
  • At F2.8, shorter and over a stop slower... different beasts. Still, very impressive from the Sig for sure. WISH they would make a 90mm / 100mm F2.8!
  • GX7 if there is a decent IQ bump. If not (and there probably wont be) my EM5 still rocks.
  • Thanks- I got a bit lucky with that one, I was shooting the misty landscape and then a bird flew in. I really liked the sharp contrast in it, although I have ones without as well. Quite a magical...
  • Interesting - X series would be much more interesting to me with 16-20mp Bayer sensor without AA and IBIS - the lens range is really developing nicely.

  • Replied in Easy:
    My Olympus E-M5 plus... 12mm F2 / 25mm F1.4 and 75mm f1.8. (I currently have the 12mm F2 / 20mm f1.7 and 45mm f1.8)
  • Replied in Thanks!
'Taking a nap' is one of my favorites and one of those shots you know as soon as you get it, I've had a lot of good feedback on that one although it has not had a lot of views on my website...
  • That a M43 camera with slow kit lens provides limited advantage over a higher end compact with fast lens? I thought so anyway. Of course you can put a faster, much better optically 100 gram prime...
  • What mode are you in?  Far better results could be attained with ISO 200 and 1/250th (4 stops less ISO and shutter speed). Cheers,

And I've changed cameras (and often systems) about every year for the past 7-8 years. I'm really very satisfied with my EM5 and lenses - half looking at the GX7 but I doubt it will have better IQ....
