  • Of course pentax is better, we all know that!
And thank you for reminding that in every unrelated thread.

  • It can be created in software, but not that easy.
And after all, those who buy this lens, don't do it because they want that effect on all their photos, or pay 700$ to have the effect in one...

  • It's a cool lens. Very well suited for those who tend to collect photo gear. It produces interesting results, it's a very nice display piece, and a very good conversation starter.
    Yes, for a lot...

  • @Wed photo: if you use a "focus confirm" adapter for canon, it works like a charm... you see the AF points in the viewfinder turning red every time focus is spot on at that specific point. It's...

  • @zodiacfml ... it's not really directly comparable with a smartphone. It has a 1" sensor, so, of course it's so much better.
The question is if you are willing to accept a smartphone so thick or...

  • yes, it's the same for (almost) all mirror-less manufacturers... they have great lenses and great bodies but on the high price side.
If you are on small budget you get much better with APSC DSLR....

  • :) as i said in the original post, i do get your point, and yes you are right.

But regarding "At what point will you be satisfied ? What is 'good enough' ?" ... i actually do hope it will never...

  • JJ Rodin, i understand your point, but they definitely are not perfect images.

They might me lovely, beautiful, stunning .... but from a technical point of view not perfect. What would be a...

  • @DME: learning photography is about a whole lot more that pixel level IQ. Because you are talking about pixel-level IQ. If you print on a 10" paper, a image taken at ISO 100-400, you will not see...

  • I can take amazing images with my old film camera that you can find one for a quarter on what you pay for a used 50D ... but what does that have to do with talking about (new) technology? After all...

  • Sure, you can shoot thousands of exposures with it. And after you change or copy the images from the SD card you can start over.

  • Maybe i'll do something to test this at some point, but it's such complex to be really scientific correct, that I've never really had the mood to do it myself :)

  • Obelix, as i said, i don't rule out your claim, but there are more factors at play than that.
I didn't find any "fair comparison" to prove your point. (By fair, i mean a lab test that runs fuji +...

  • Obelix, that is not necessarily true. You must take more factors into account:

First: the real lens transmittance (the T number, not the F number). That is a the used fuji lens at F5.6 can be some...

  • There was some time ago a discussion on this topic. the point is that technically many of today sensors are built to optimize first high iso (and the truth is that everybody uses high iso for...

  • yes, the camera lowest ISO is 200. The 100ISO in jpg, is actually a iso200 image adjusted down one stop by the jpeg engine. If you shoot raw ISO 200 and underexpose in post you get the same result.

  • you shouldn't care much about that anyway... first, if you AF and then move the camera to re-frame ... the AF point indicators will be off, and second they could be shot with manual focus...

  • Samuel, no i didn't :) however they are already available (as preorders for now) at the major retailers. BHphoto has it, major retailers in europe have it ... probably in Asia it will be more...

  • for what?

  • canon's patent on 50/1.8 expired, so yongnuo didn't have to buy anything :) .. you can produce your own copy of the lens, if you want.

But, as already said in the comments, it's possible that...
