No it isn't. The camera works fine with this lens out-of-the-box. The update does improve AF performance, which was already good. Possibly the July upgrade will improve things further.

Absolutely! When I need more powerful software to do the job, I use GIMP. Those two programs do everything I need, and do it well. And, it's completely free.

Tilt/shift lenses rarely, if ever, have aperture automation. The mechanics don't allow for it, and are actually very expensive to manufacture. Further, this is just a RRP.

I would. I like medium-format IQ in a little no-frills metal box with a fantastic prime lens on it.
