On Roger Cicala compares three 24-70mm F2.8 lenses news story (142 comments in total)
In reply to:

rayman 2: what we always said and nobody wanted to believe....
a lens doesnt have a resolution... it has a resolution on a body and
the higher the pixelcount of the body the higher resolution that combination
gets.....
So if you have some old lenses and want to make them perform better you can
buy a new highres body to do that..
Its not like many people in the forums believe that a lens is like a resolution barrier and that the quality can get to a certain point over which it cant go further.. sort of like bad lens and it cant get any better witha better camera...
thats proved wrong....

lenses are not limited..... you can get more res from a higher res body but some lenses are better then others and the better ones show better results and get even better if you put higher
res bodies behind them.....
You just didnt read carefully what i said guys..

On Kodak licensee shows off Micro Four Thirds camera in China news story (192 comments in total)
In reply to:

tkbslc: See, it only took the Chinese a week to figure out how to make money with the Kodak name in Digital. Kodak could have done this 3-4 years ago.

So many negative replies yet nobody has seen the camera
and more so not used it.. !
How do you know how it is..... ?
Nikon and canon started small 70 years ago in the camera business mainly with cameras that looked like german cameras.. and today both of them are on the top and only a few german camera brands are left...
More MFT cameras is a good thing for the market !

On Dpreview Users' Poll: Best Camera of 2012? news story (1514 comments in total)

I have all sorts of cameras and I also like the OM-D because its small
but the D800E is the first camera in history to bring MF quality
down to an affordable and much smaller package....
Those that critisize it must know that the 4 Pps are not low they are fast compared to the 1.3 PPS of a Hasselblad H4 or H5 and a Mamya or Phase one......and it has much more other options then those have like the CLS flash system and lots more......
The camera would be nothing without the lenses though... and those range
from 8mm to 2000 mm .. a lot more then what you can get for MF ..
some of the classics like the 300mm- f 2 can also be used....

The Sigma lens might be a good lens but Sigma both
in the Usa as in many parts of the world except Hongkong
and Japan wont update the firmware of lenses for them to work with
them Nikon series 1 and the FT1 adapter which is a shame.....
Sigma showed once more that its not futureproof ! :(

djsphynx: First sentence seems to be missing something... roughly what?

I also own a Sony Nex system and the Nikon F mount system
and I am eagerly looking foreward to getting my hands on that system..
As a pro I know what it means to mount a 2.8 300 mm lens
on a 2.7x sensor and getting 800mm (equivalent to 35mm)
focal length with ultra fast autofocus and 60 frames per second
with a 16000th of a second electronic shutter......
F 2.8 !!!!!
and an image quality of about a D200 that was considered good enough for pros a few years ago....and still is if you limit to an A4
(or 11x16) size.
Thats good enogh for most journalist uses...
