Thank you for the info. Our little Casio's, in their day, took most of the incidental family photographs, simply because they were always there in a pocket with us.
I'm running Wireless SD cards...

The XS1 is the neatest pocket camera I have seen since the simply divine Casio S500
If the build quality is as good (the S500 was superbly engineered) then we are in for shirt pocket treat.

The sensor is interesting. 1/1.7".

He's a proud upright fellow, and no mistake.
Wedding photographer now then eh?

On the technical side of teaching photography, There's the marriage of lens and sensor size to consider. As in larger sensor = larger lens = no more FZ200.
The camera design is good, and...

Imaging if EVERY video camera had to have a still capture facility because it was a trend. Imagine that because of that some video capture technology was compromised in the process. Were this the...

It is for me though! Dare I unzip the body bag that contains my enthusiasm for Panasonic?

Pleased you liked it Bruno. Room for improvement; perhaps a more golden glow and subdued background. The key technique was getting background into the shot without whiting out flame and candle top....
-
Yes. Take your point about he flame. Though I won't repeat the exercise, I have decided that dividing the exposure into a manual setting for the flame, and a flash setting for the background, would...

There might have been, but the candle was lit all last evening, and is but a molten blob now. :)

Tricky shot actually. Fifth attempt. Full flash off ceiling.
How do you capture candles?

The FZ50 is a high end compact. What's to say it isn't the long awaited replacement?

Hey Rudy thank you for the update. Very helpful indeed.
The weight and image quality are known - pretty much. But more detail of day to day operation of a DSLR system as compared too an FZ would...

Thanks for the ideas one and all. I needed a boost for the overcast work.
