About me:

Photography started as a hobby back in 1985 (dad gave me my first SLR camera), but got neglected a bit between 2000-2006 (mostly happy snapping). In late 2007 decided to get back into it and also went digital. Now its about learning how to use the digital stuff and re-learning stuff I have forgotten.

  • Funny, I jumped from Sony to Nikon because Sony kit screwed me. Sony hasnt got any money from me in over three years. Maybe if they bring out a mirroless A-mount, but Im not going to hold my breath.

  • I tried three lenses all wide open using the sun and artificial sources, couldnt replicate the issue.

  • Well if it is just an adjustment, then mine shouldnt need it, if it requires parts replacements then it would be better to send it in is my thinking.

  • I checked my serial number (2004752) and the site says it is affected, but I have run every test I can and have read/seen and am unable to replicate any banded flare (not even a little bit).

  • Dont worry, I cant replicate it on mine either.

Heron: Just a great white heron caught while walking around Lake Illawarra.Dragonfly: It was late when I went to check the mail, but noticed this dragon fly settled for the night, happened to be playing with the old Minolta 7D and 105mm macro lens, so I used it to take a quick snap.
  • Commented on Nikon D750 Review preview

I have the D4 and the D750, and its the D750 which gets picked up more often now. The D700 was a favourite for performance and size. Didnt really want the D4 because of its massive size (found a...

Canon and Nikon have had so many 'devestating' issues I wonder how they are still in business.....

Maybe they are not as devestating as all the doomsayers keep anouncing they are.

  • Yup still a great low light sensor still with a not good low light AF, still mismatched. As much as I love dials, this camera is still poor design, whether it has gold lettering or not!

    Thats why...

  • I was kind of hoping for some tech breakthru, but I guess I gave Canon to much credit.

  • For low light photography, the update AF is FAR from a gimmik. My D600 could hardly match my D700 in low light much less have a chance against the D750 I suspect. Certainly more unobtrusive than my...

  • As I used my D700 mostly in low light situations, the 1/8000th speed never really mattered.

If I truly need high shutter rate of 1/8000 I will pull out the D4 again (or even the D7100, or old...

  • I think this is a very good replacement of the D700. I have a D7100 for wildlife, but my D4 really is a bit cumbersome for band photography in small to medium venues. The D750 is more than likely...

  • Finally a proper D700 replacement. Unlike the 'lovely dials but horrible image sensor/AF mismatch' of the Df.

    This is looking much better.

This is looking much better, good high ISO in a small package, my D4 is now going to...
