About me:

I'm taking pictures since over 45 years. Learned the handcraft by a landscape and architecture photographer. Rolleiflex, Mamiya RB 67, Nikonos IV, Sigma. Now I've come to Sony A900 and Zeiss. Almost with tripod.

  • Actually I do not want to start an endless discussion or "religious war": With which parameters do you experts here in the forum calibrate your monitor? After 6 years, I just have bought a new Eizo ...
  • Hello Vitée, I appreciate your answer very much. At the very end, I think, everyone of more or less professional photographers has its "secret ingredients" to give one's pictures the individual, ...
  • Hello Ted, thanks for your reply! This all sounds a little tricky and complicated? Although I will give RawDigger a try in the next weeks. I'm from old days, times where you had the film roll of ...
  • Marvelous and very skilled processed pictures, Vetee! I'm impressed - and therefore I would like to ask you, with which workflow you gain such excellent results (the nice dark sky and white clouds ...
  • If I remember right, Laurence was organizer and attendee of the most beautiful, exciting, dangerous and famous meeting of the Sigma user group in la Wantzenau , France, Alsace! It was in April ...
  • As long as I'm "on SIGMA", I know Laurence and his characterful personality. Many years ago I got from him for no money a set of Jack Russell terrier portraits for an info campaign in our village. ...
  • I agree with you totally. As the Quattro was getting contours at the horizon, I soon got the impression from the specs and "handling", that the Merrill may be the last of the genuine Foveons, and ...
  • It's always a good try to delete all the preferences of SPP in the folder ~users/library/preferences. You have succeeded in doing so, if SPP shows "first start info window". I do not know, which ...
  • As I already often said, the forum members and "Sigmarians worldwide" should go together and start putting heavy pressure on Sigma to stop that ghost train ride. It's unbearable! Yesterday, I'm ...
  • I can't but laughing heartily about that, because SPP and it's characteristics are discussed in such a hot way, that there might be a grain (or more) of salt in that behavior of avast ... ;-) But ...
  • I own a Kata backpack since many years and use it for challenging hiking tours at all weather about every week. The outer lining and zippers are still about "100%", only the lining where it has...

  • Replied in Had enough?
I hope there is not the tendency in our forum – in order to "defend" Sigma – to impute to everyone, who dares to criticize certain aspects of SPP, to be an impatient layman, who does better in ...
  • In the meantime I made the effort to try to reproduce that "bug" - and this successfully. I duplicated a folder with 21 X3Fs from my SD1M of a pano and developed them with SPP 6.1 using the option ...
  • One has to remember the very high claims Sigma connects particularly with the SD1M. In comparison to that statements, SPP 6.2 falls *very* short. It isn't a professional software, it's a "study of ...
  • Thank you very much. You just pinpointed the problem better than me. For I abandoned SPP 6.x in favor of 5.5.3, all files are readable – exept those I touched with 6.x ... thanks again - Johannes
  • I very sorry, but I have totally to agree to Marcus. And there is no need to defend that crap software and workflow. If you use *any* other professional (RAW-) software like (Aperture,) LR, PS or ...
  • My experience is still the following: If you dare to open an X3F within 6.x and save the editings back to the X3F file, it will be gone for earlier versions. You can't open those files any longer ...
  • Hardy, thanks to you, that you found such sincere and calm words for that huge und very severe problem. Words, which I'm no longer able to find, because I'm totally angry about that software and ...
  • Capure One 8, You are a happy guy! I use it since version 6. And I'm always willing to pay that licence. But I have to state, that either Sigma succeeds in beeing taken into CO (what seems to me ...
  • I agree: very impressive pictures, Scott. There is a lot of work behind them. And I agree with your more detailed opinion about the crux of the workflow, after the *1/60 sec* of the shutter release...
