Christoph v Ballmoos: Seems a lot tougher to get a winning picture when you are not in a crisis area. In that photographers sense: May the wars all around the world never stop...As serious as all this is, I think, this "it has to be tears or blood on a picture to win a prize" mentality gives a wrong sign. To me, most of those shots are pure voyeurism, but well pairing up with the nowadays understanding what good journalism seems to be. In that very sense, if you have the chance to capture a beautiful moment with your camera today or anytime, do it, you heal the world a tiny little bit.My feelings are with the victims of all those stupid and unnecessary wars around us. And as history has proven us over and over again: Blood always leads to more blood.. We probably should start thinking about a new strategy.Have a peaceful time.
Amen to that...we are trivializing the human suffering.
