Thanks for all the comments! This photo was heavily inspired by the death of David Foster Wallace, a writer I've found tremendously inspirational. I took this the day I learned of his suicide. My expression came all too easily.

On Communion in the Capturing Melancholy challenge (3 comments in total)

Hi, Rusma! You are always so kind!

The exposure itself was 1/200th, but I used the 12-second timer so I could press the shutter and then run into position. With 100mm, it really was a sprint for me. I think I had the IR remote with me, but it doesn't work well when the camera is pointed directly in the sun's path, as in this shot.
