Why do I have the feeling that some high-iso-pics are hold back? Because they are worst? Most readers are very keen on watching some real life pics in dimm light or at at night with ISO1600, 3200 and 6400, me too. JPGs out of camera, with raw or without! Here is less to think about for me, sorry.
Hm, I wonder why people who are looking für the best quality are buying a dslr and add such a superzoomlense which lowers the picquality to an just very average level?!
Far to much glass.
I tried an 18-270 Tamron and 18-200 Sigma and sold it. The Tamron shows lots of faults (CA, fringing, vigneting) and was very soft on the long end so that I did not use it above 200mm. Only between 24 and 150mm it looks quite ok, but not outstanding.
I prefer an 17-70/50 sigma or maybe an 16-85 VR.
PhotoWiz wrote "I just tried ACDSEE Pro 6. It purports to be non-destructive of the original image. But when I did a Clone on one Jpeg, it made a permanent change to the original image. Is this non-destructive?"after doing your corrections safe the pic under a new name for example pic.jpg as pic1.jpg. And then cancel the project!then you have both files in your working directory.
beckmarc: Great news on the Fuji x trans sensor support
Are there any improvements for other cameras? For example the Sony RX100, I allways get very strange yellow-orange colours out of raw for faces in available light. In JPGs it looks better but using high iso it shows less details than raw development.
I am missing the weight?!
No 3:2 ?! No A-/S-Mode? No RAW?
NO BUY, sorry!
No P/A/S/M?Looks like the ZS Panasonic has the edge again for me...
What a pity thats none of the new superzoomer offers raw :(
No raw, no 3:2 Option??Nikons wants us to buy the canon S100 :(
bigjay: the button with 2 dials that change function on button press harks back to the Dynax 7xi film camera from Minolta from the early 90's which used this approach. worked well then - promises to work well now. Cant wait to see a Nex 7 in store.
Great camera, what a pitty that there are no small and good zoomlenses. It´s a waste of their apabilities to use this cam with the bad nex kits 18-55/16mm.
And using it with a bigger 16-50 prime lense make no sense, the body is to small from the ergonimcal side for such a big and heavy lense. I would like sth like the X14-42 from Panasonic for NEX!
Whar aboubt the last years winner, the ZS7 / TZ10 in this competition? I checked the pics. It is still available and cheap and seems to my mind at low iso better than the sx230, on par at iso200 and a little behind at iso400. At iso800 + the canon wins clearly but i wouldn´t use it ayway, so its no point for me. But the tz20 has 25mm and native 3:2/16:9!
Chaitanya S: Any high ISO images?
Yes, turning nr off mainly effects higher ISO images. So it makes no sense to test such a parameter using low iso AND in daylight.
NR starts destroying pics starting above ISO400-800, more at >ISO1250. In Available Light or Nightlight!
So I would like to see such a sample, too.
