kevin_r: Price of Sony A77II is now only $998 with instant $200 rebate at Adorama.
So if anyone is new to DSLRs or wanted to switch anyway, there's an equally appealing camera for the same money. Just doesn't have a touch screen.

It was $899 earlier with the grip included. I just got the A77 II with 16-50mm F2.8 and the grip for $1500. I don't think the A77 II produce same sharpness, or low light as good as D7100 or D5300. However the AF speed is so fast and able to capture 12fps compare to 5fps that you would with the new D5500 make a lot of difference. Having a focus perking help in manual focus video and photo. Also ability to shoot panorama is very nice feature.

The D5300 is way overpriced consider the specs. Just wait till end of the year it drop 200 to 300 easily.

Did Fuji forgot that Sony and Panasonic both release large sensor in similar compact body and also can change lens, $500 is ok in few yeas ago but not now.

Good specs, but they still got no answer for 70d video focus.

Overprice... Should have been ASPC sensor or price point under $1000.

No matter how you slice it, the bokeh is still weak is nothing dramatic different than those smaller sensor point and shoot. For that money i would just EOS M with pan cake 20mm for less than half the price.

On Best Camera of 2012: And the Winner is... article (1412 comments in total)

Despite Olympus OM-D EM-5 getting very good review it won't help the sales much, since they do almost no marketing. i don't see m4/3 camera display in bestbuy/target when most people can see them in person. It doesn't do well in video and isn't small is definite target to those who want the most control out of a camera without a lot of weight and get good image.

tompabes2: Guys, before criticizing you should read something about the pureview and see some real-world shots.
The output is 8mp, not 42, because it uses pixel-binning to produce a 8mp output. You can also have the 42 mp output, but of course the majority of users will be fine with 8mp.
The 8mp images that you can obtain are waaaay better than current 8/12 mp images from other mobile phones, and are better also when compared to 90% of compact cameras.
That said, the price is too high, the OS (Symbian) is obsolete and I'd rather get an enthusiast camera like Oly xz-1 or similar for less money, but the truth remains that the output from the 808 is simply great.

808 is design for those able to get the shot that they usually can't with the crappy phone camera.

zs20 has been drop close to $100 from the retail price. It didn't get good review as previous model. Most complain that this camera didn't do well in image quality while has a lot of feature.
