Beautiful picture of a difficult fruit. Congrats on the win!
This was my favorite , I like the contrasting background, and the bird is just pretty.
Definitely creepy enough to win! And well done!!!
jd7816: Excuse me, but North America also has varieties of ivy. Are you going to disqualify those???? Please advise.
I am not sure what you mean. If it's an ivy, it's fine as an entry.
bjake: The rules says limit 5 but when I tried to enter the second it said 'already reached the limit'
This challenge was set up to have a max limit of 5 so that I could increase that max limit to 50 8 hours after the challenge opened. The rules were talking about that, not the # entries per person which is 1.
Windancer: Is 5 the total amount of entries allowed or is that a typo?
thank you Ruth.. Yes, the challenge entry limit was set up with a delay because my recent color Blue challenge filled up in a few hours. Hoping this lets more areas of the world enter.
pleytime: For those of us in different time zones, this challenge is not viable as it's always full by the time we're able to post anything.
This is being taken care of now. Good luck everyone.
Ooooooooohhhh , you are lucky to be able to watch this,…. and thank you for entering it. It's fabulous!
cjf2: Are you really meaning Ivy, which is an evergreen or do you consider all creepers, including those whose leaves turn red, would fit the challenge? Wikipedia gives the following:-
Ivy, plural ivies (Hedera), is a genus of 12–15 species of evergreen climbing or ground-creeping woody plants in the family Araliaceae, native to western, central and southern Europe, Macaronesia, northwestern Africa and across central-southern Asia east to Japan and Taiwan.
I didn't realize there could be a difference. Yes I do think the creepers you refer to fit the challenge.
Broken butterfinger candy bar?
Nice entry, reminds me of a mini jungle. Congratulations on the win!!
My personal fave in this challenge!!!!
This had winner written all over it. I think it's fascinating to imagine capturing something this lovely. Lucky you!!! And congratulations on the win.
This is my favorite. You have cute kids!!!!
barb_s: wow, that was fast. I will certainly add another challenge and I've set it up with 5 for the entry limit, and then 12 hours into the challenge, I will change it to 50.
This will announce Nov 8th:
Repeat challenge Blue: Fish, flowers, eyes, jewels, jeans, birds, water, etc… but do not enter a nature photo that uses the sky as the blue element. The sky can be in the photo, but something else must be the point of interest and it should be blue.
The 1st challenge filled up in just a few hours. This one will open up with 5 as the limit for entries, and 12 hours after it has opened, I will set the limit to 50 to allow the other 1/2 of the planet a chance to enter.
I can't add rules after challenge is out there, but I can consider it for the other one.
I didn't manage to vote in this challenge, but I certainly find this to be eye catching, crisp, colorful, action filled, and properly framed. Nice job on this win!
Frequently a photo like this is entered, but isn't well captured. You did both! It's nicely framed and the b/w worked well here.
Russell Denney: Unbelievable. This guy creates/hosts this contest, submits his picture under a false name, and pumps up the votes to falsify a win!
I have long suspected these dpreview contests were rigged. I am done with this bull_shit...
Raptor, you are right, circumstantial, but the host here could have DQ'd his companions photo for the city rule violation alone.
And how could anyone enter a companion's challenge after doing a photo shot together, when you know you have a fan club of voter ID's that will make a joke of the quality of the challenge outcome (as has been done 4 times by the winner here).
I thought this was going to win - it's not something many of us see an day and I really liked it.
