very nice, and not easy to find something like this to photograph. The b/w makes it more special -moodwise. Congratulations!
Congratulations all. Those here are the top 50% of all entries , so even if you placed in the lower part of the grouping, you really already placed well. I hope it was fun for everyone.
This one is just great, it's fun. I loved it when I saw it. Safe travels to you out there too.Congratulations o a runner up position.
Congratulations. One judge mentioned giving this one of his highest scores for it's exposure and composition.
What was the occasion that prompted making a fish cake?
This was a perfect entry in my view. Nice in b/w too.
congratulations on the win!
something else! nice job!!
my favorite here!
this is great. you really made it interesting!!
Bernard909: Why voting only on 5 entries ... It would be interesting to compare public and judges voting on all entries.
that's another good idea. If I do mor of this type, that'll be worth trying out.
dieseldog: A 3 way tie for 5th place! Totally unfair in my opinion. Only the top 5 should have remained as per the rules! Someone should have taken the ultimate decision to narrow it down! If the judges were unable to decide then they should not have been allowed to judge. Maybe next time it could be just the top 7 entries, but allow 10 anyway!
You are right, I could have done it that way too. I would have needed to get the judges to all chat about the last 3, and to be honest, I just thought it seemed fair to do it the way I did. Your point is taken. This was the first attempt at trying to do something like this, and it's really a lot of work without a framework in place to support something like this.
There are now 25 entries to vote on. The judges had a very hard time picking top choices. One judge spent an hour and still had many ties at score of 4 stars. I heard similar comments from other judges. Ties everywhere in the star ratings. I asked for judging to be as usual and send the top scores. I was happy to see variety in judges choices too. Good luck those that remain for the public vote.
njkdo: Ordinary and common, no good exposition, no good light, no good nothing, how could win this pic?
I think at full view you see some good clarity, nice depth of field, and a person holding a mask AND wearing a mask. Not common at all in my view.
a nice surprise, close up photo here, also tied as 1 of 3 for the 5th place spot out of the original 25 entries.
To the entrants, I'm in awe of some of the entries here, the effort , the "fun" that seems to have been had, and the creativity and quality. I know it's a subject I've found to be on the difficult side, so kudo's to everyone. Many thanks for entering, and good luck. The judges are not having an easy time here.
One has send results in and mentioned he spent an hour really looking at the entries , filling the light box twice trying to decide. That in itself says a bit about the quality of the entries for this challenge.
The experiment went pretty well here. I thank those who were brave enough to enter. I've commented on the final judges ordering on each photo. Thank you all!
Judges results: This tied as one of 3 for 5th place of the 25 photos. Congratulations!
Congratulations on judges 4th place of 25 photos.
Judges combined: 2nd place 6 judges had this in their top 5.
This was a 3 way tie for 5th place with the judges. Consider it's still a top 5 of 25 making it a strong photo in the group.
