Nice setting George. Somehow I would not have guessed South Africa at all - What a surprise! Congratulations on the win!!
JimW-203: Earlier a number of entries were disqualified because water was not visible in the picture. Several new entries have the same problem - has something changed to prevent them from being DQed?
You are right.
LeeStar: Rules say "should see the home" but not if the *entire* home has to be seen in the image. Would appreciate clarification. Thanks.
I did not say entire home. Any entry that you can see it's a home, or an abandon'ed home, home in construction, would all be OK
Please point out an entry you see no water, beech or evidence of a house. I tried to be as lenient as I can on these 3 items. I thought I DQ'd those that didn't meet the rule.
SHR100: Error in the title - should be 2015.
thanks - sorry - I rushed it in.
Congratulations. definitely the type of entry I was hoping to see at the top. She's lovely!
Since I come from the board designing world, this one was my favorite. Voting seemed quite close for the first 3 entries. All good, all different and worthy of top spots here. Congratulations on runner up.
Congratulations... This along with the other top photo's was more of what I was expecting. This looked like fun to create. Thank you for entering this entry int he challenge.
Mo50: Is a life guard station with sleeping facilities permitted?
Sorry, It should be a home. I don't think of that as a home.
stefanik: Do you think it will be reopened for submission?
I will add 5 to the total.
tvstaff: My picture is of a 42 year old woman. Is that mature?
I was trying to keep from seeing a lot of your typical "beautiful young models shot in a studio".
tasad: Looks like the majority of the entrants didn't read this :" MAKE A STILL LIFE COMPOSITION that includes something electronic "A photo of a single electronic item - is not a "still life" ...What is a Still Life ?..."Still life is a COMPOSITION of several lifeless object broughttogether by a certain theme . Still life should clearly express a certainidea. It may be made up of objects put together according to their practical function or have some concept that is being explored "- "Still life photography " by Maggi Carstairs https://www.wiziq.com/tutorial/28474-Still-Life-Photography
FWIW, I agree, but I didn't put a definition in the description. Lesson learned here... I'll be adding that to any future still life challenges and won't allow less. I still think with language barriers across the world , I wasn't clear enough, unfortunately.
Also, I have seen unconventional single item still life art which does not meet the typical definition, but it's out there. It's more reason in my mind to allow both in the challenge since I did not provide a definition to follow.
No question - this got my 5 star vote! Just fabulous!!!
This is a light hearted challenge, and kudo's to the true still life's that incorporate electronics.
I'm really surprised at the coloring of this little guy. I expect white to be white and maybe shades of white on crab spiders. These bands on the legs are something new to me.
Also, congratulations. This challenge series is very competitive and always full of top notch photo's.
Loved the entries here as well as voting on them. Nice challenge!!!
I'm very impressed with the world wide variety of the entries. It is a bonus to see where these falls are located, so I thank the owners of these photo's for adding titles and comments about the "falls". Very nice!!
I feel like the challenge results are secondary to enjoying the slide show. I hesitated on setting up this challenge, because of the same-ness of the subject that could have occurred, but, surprise! There is no sameness to me. They are all quite interesting.
Good luck voters. I hope you enjoy reviewing these and can appreciate each for what it offers.
Your host, Barb
Very cool, interesting photo. Brings memories of my flexible youth to mind!! Although I was never able to do this, and on a tip toe! Wow!!!
Congrats on the win as well.
and yes, I smiled :)
I''m looking at upgrading my camera, and you really showcase this camera and lens combo. IT looks great.A beauty - congratulations on the win as well!
