The last photo is blurry due to camera shake. Look at the small highlights in the photo; they are smeared to one side.
To the OP: do you have OSS turned on. If you don't, then turn it on. However,...

I don't think that the cameras' metering is so much different, rather, it is just too dark for the NEX with the kit lens to make a brighter picture that looks good, and the engineers knew it. At a...

Very nice picture! This illustrates the key difference between the two systems. I understand why you feel it is absurd to compare the two systems, however ...
Most people who have a nex do not have...

I am using the GGS on the 5n as well. Touch does work on mine but it is difficult to use the functions on the right edge that are duplicated by the hardware buttons (no big deal). Touch to focus...

Summary: The RX100 will beat the NEX cameras with the kit lens in low light.
I did this test a while ago, but not quite as you specified. I think the test you specified would give the same results....

You can set lightroom to turn on CA correction by default. Simply turn it on and alt-click the Reset button at the bottom. When you press alt, the button changes to "Set Default..." Lightroom then...

I have Sony battery, as well as an aftermarket battery, both of which came with my camera as a kit from Adorama about a 1 year and a few months ago. My Sony battery still works as new (seemingly;...

This statement is misleading. Noise levels will remain the same but you need to look at the noise much more closely (because we have equivalent magnification/viewing distance), thus it will look...

It makes no difference whether you compare systems by calculating the effective aperture and then factoring in the sensor size to get sensor efficiencyORcompare systems by just using the f-stop and...

As it turns out, both of you are correct.@forpetessake:In my initial post, I stated that the 5n sensor is better but it is not-if we measure the S/N ratrio / sensor size. The fact that with an...

I recently had the opportunity to try an RX100 against my NEX-5N with the 18-55 kit lens. As others mentioned here, there are many different facets of image quality. I will say, though, that with...

All cameraphones that I have owned had the option of turning off the camera shutter sound by turning down the ringer volume or switching to vibrate only. These include the original Motorola Razor,...

To keep up with the rainfall analogy, camera sensors have a little funnel (albeit one that funnels light) called microlens over every photosite for the very reason you mentioned; the sensor houses...

Depending on the lighting, you may be able to make it less red by manually setting white balance. Also, find out what the maximum ISO is that your camera model will record video in. As far as I...

You are experiencing a drop in exposure from live view to video because the nex cameras don't do video at ISO 12,800. I am not sure about other nex models, but the 5n maxes out at ISO 3200 in video.

I have read several times that the original 18-200 has better stabilization than the e or the tamron. Is there any definitive evidence of that? Can anyone point to a direct comparison of these...

There is, in fact, an auto ISO option for Program, Shutter priority, and Aperture priority. For some reason unknown to any photographer, Sony just disabled it in Manual mode.
