This is one of the most asked Canon questions of all time. If you do a search, you will find thousands of posts and opinions about this.I have had the 7D, 5DII and 5DIII in that order. Here is the...

I'm trying to figure out exactly how the High ISO Noise Reduction in-camera setting affects the default chrominance and luminance settings in Raw files in Digital Photo Professional. The level of...

I just noticed a strange behavior on my 5DIII. If I hit the magnify button immediately after taking a picture (while the image review is still on the screen), I can't use the thumbwheel to scroll...

There must be something wrong with your 5DIII. There is no way it should be giving you worse IQ than the 550D. Smaller pixels are not better. If that were the case, we would all be using camera...

I've had a 450d, 7d and 5dII. I now have a 5DIII. I think the 5dII is a great upgrade from a 450d. It is better in every way and you will be very happy. The 7d is nice, but the image quality does...

If you can wait a couple months, you might want to consider the 6D. It sounds like it will be optimized for travel and landscape shotters.

I was in the exact same situation. (upgraded from 7D to 5DIII). I bought a used ST-E2 for about $100. It works great. Very easy to use. I recommend it.

I have the 70-300L and I used to have a 7d. It was an awesome combination. The speed, compact size and great IQ made it a great travel kit. The lens really balances well on the 7d. The build...

No. The 5DIII does not have a dedicated Raw/Jpeg button but you can program the M-Fn button (near the shutter release button) to do it.

There was a big thread about this recently

I just went through your exact situation.
I had a 7d + 17-55 f2.8 and then I...

Wow, amazing shots. Can't wait to try my new 5DIII at an air show.

I'm an amatuer, not pro. I had a 7d + 17-55 f2.8 and then I got a 5DII with a 24-105.
I also have a70-300L.I thought this was going to be the perfect combination, allowing me to do sports and BIF...

Why not take a picture of your LCD with another camera at the same time. If the text in the LCD picture is legible and the actual picture is not, then something else must be going in. I suspect...

The 7D really was a great camera in every way, except the sensor. If the 6D had been a 7D with a full frame sensor for $2K, that would have been the ideal camera for me.

I realize you can focus with all 61. The problem is that only the center 21 are reliable cross types. If I wanted to focus with unreliable outer points, I would have kept my 5DII !
-
Thanks! Wow, that is pretty disappointing. There is a huge list of lenses (including the 70-300L) that only supports the center group of 21 cross points. After reading so many great reviews about...

When I use my 24-105L I see all 41 cross points in my viewfinder (I only have cross points enabled). However, when I switch to my EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L USM, the left and right groups disappear and...

The auto focus on the 5D II is basically the same as the 5D. They both have decent center point AF. The main downside is that you need to "focus and recompose", as opposed to picking your focus...

Any modern dslr takes great pictures in good light with static subjects. Now try the same test under moonlight at ISO 3200 or with a moving subject.

Once you get used to FF IQ you won't want to shoot the 7d anymore. Sell everything you have and get a 5D III and a 24-105L. I had a 7D and a 5d II. I was always stressing about which body to take....
