Have checked the switch on the body?

I rented the 17-70 earlier this year. I was very happy with it except for one issue, the zoom ring is backwards compared to all of my nikkor lenses. I was always zooming the wrong direction....

You've made a good decision. I would skip the D7000 and go to the D7100 when you are ready to upgrade to the D90. The 39 pt af module has been too problematic for whatever reason.

I had focus issues with the 35 on my D5000. I sent the lens to Nikon for recalibration.
It worked better on the D5000 after that.
It seems fine on my D7100.

What picture control settings are you using?
I upgraded from the D5000 (same sensor as the D90).
On the D5000 I had sharpening set at 5. On the D7100 I have set the sharpening at 6 and the...

In practice the noise is not an issue. I keep seeing comments about the noise in the D7100. In 5 months it has not been an issue. Only if you sit around looking at 100 and 200% crops is it an...

I think you're right. Camera movement, likely from pressing the shutter release to hard.

No, Nikon's default jpeg are soft, but can be easily adjusted by their picture controls

Switched from Pentax Spotmatic F to a Nikon N8008s in the early 90's ;-)

No oil issues here. If the D7100 had issues like the D600 did with sensor dust it would have been reported by now.

He has a wide lens. See the original post, he has the Tokina 12-24.

You have what you need. Polarizers are helpful to get the best water shots.
If you're going to Oahu I recommend this tour :

You need a class like this:

There should be something similar in your area. Don't buy any more gear.

On refurb lenses thee will be a small dot in the plastic on both sides (ends) of the serial number to indicate it's a refurb. Don't know of that holds for camera bodies.

It doesn't look like it supports the CLS system. Also lower guide number than the SB-400, and it uses AAA instead of AA like other speedlights. All bad. If you want a small flash, get the sb-400...

SB-400 already does this. For Less.

I have a D7100 and a D5000 (same sensor as D90) and the D7100 has less noise at all isos.
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
