Sorry but anyone wearing a tie with a lens cap attached cries out I am a photo jerk.

Nice work DPR should be very helpful for newbies and not so newbies considering a new compact.

On article Accessory Review: Tamrac Zipshot Tripod (94 comments in total)

OK it's a last resort. I borrowed one for a weekend and used it with an X100. Pretty hopeless really, very light, wobbly and you get exactly one shooting height.
I much prefer my small Velbon PH243 which is sturdier, almost as compact and offers adjustable height.

To all the whiners, nobody loves a whiner, these shots are wonderful, Canon, Nikon blah.
Just bloody great front page mag photography.

(Wish we'd had this stuff in the 70's when I was a working stiff press photographer in Melbourne AUS).

A very nice post and thank you for showing images from a lens that most can only dream of owning.
I am becoming more and more disillusioned by subscribers who rush to rubbish almost anything that is new and which in all likelyhood they actually dont know a lot about.
Civilised behaviour costs nothing

On article Nikon D4 overview (840 comments in total)

Seems to me that Nikon has come up with a nice upgrade model. D3s owners really don't need to change anything unless they want to.
For pros D4 perfect when its new body time.
For money no object types you will do what you want anyway.
I never notice Nikon users wanting to go Canon, but Canon users are always that little bit apologetic that they don't have something better (like a Nikon).

This challenge should be removed. It is offensive.
Take a look at the host "netbank" no posts in the last 1 2 months and a personal gallery of rubbish,
How do people like this get to host such a challenges. They totally undermine the spirit of DPR.
Let them pedal their trash on FB.

What is this doing here.
Are we suddenly to be presented with challenges from every school across the globe.
There are many other appropriate places for school kids to strut their stuff, try the FB for instance

Yes it is a load of crap and I have cant believe that i entered in this low class school boy bottom humor.
In keeping with these comments and sentiments I have withdrawn my entry and deleted it from my gallery.
I suddenly realize after this and the total nonsense result in the Tamron lens travel contest that all is not always as it seems on DPR.

This might sound like sour grapes, but it is not. I never expect to win a lot here, its just an interest for me, but there are other entrants who should feel justifiably disappointed.
I can't believe that this is a winning entry when it is so obviously manufactured. It is nothing more than a framed piece of characterless sky which I suspect is not original to the image.
Secondly, does it meet the criteria "travel and nature" I don't think that its close.
Finally the proportion of 5 star votes is suspicious.
Makes one think about entering challenges in future.
