Great photo. Pin sharp - am looking forward to reading the first "hands-on" tests.

Main reason ? Cost cutting - but it could come back to bite ....

China is where most mid-range (price-wise) digital cameras are now assembled. Unfortunate, but true.
My two digital cameras, a Nikon Coolpix 8400 and a Panasonic DMC-G1 were both built in Japan...

Pete,
It does seem a bit odd to me that, when we were told the P7800 would be in stores in September, that we are all still waiting for it to appear !
As for Oz, if I were you I'd buy it somewhere...

These small sensors get better by the year. Bibi DSLR's

It's the 24mm that I'm waiting for. Had a CP8400 for years, slow but the 24 was wonderful.

Please ! please ! If you are going to write an article, get someone to proof-read it before posting: "are still affordable albeit expensive" ? "They also allows using smaller apertures..."

Most interesting. But sooner or later the bean-counters are going to call the engineers to order.

I think that this proves the point that MFT is leading the way and wil continue to gain ground. We can look forward to ever-improving sensor technology. I just wish I wasn't 72 !
Lovely photo.

By all accounts the 12/2 is a superb performer and beautifully built. BUT it's way too expensive.

I've a few Pentax legacy lenses which I use on my Panasonic G1. These are the highly rated Pentax-M 50/f1.7 and the Pentax-M 135/f2.5.
Just recently I have been comparing the resolution of the...

Believe me, MFT is here to stay ! I purchased my first (and only to date) MFT camera (a Panasonic G1) in June 2009 and still love it.
I use my "legacy" Pentax lenses on it (with an adapter) and...

"A dekitted 12-50 ..." Could you explain that ?
-
Ummm ! Yes, it had gone through my mind to get the 14/2.5 as most reports and comments that I have read give it good marks. It is also a beautifully compact little lens (and fast), it is also...

Thankyou to you all for an extremely interesting discussion. I have enjoyed it.
In closing, here's a photo of one of my boys bouncing pebbles across a river. It was taken with my now deceased Nikon...

Hubert,
I've done this but have yet to get a high-quality MFT/PK adapter. Mine (a cheap Chinese version purchased via ebay) wobbles a bit. I'm looking at a Novoflex adapter, which isn't cheap,...

Kiel,
I suppose it's a price thing, you have to admit $799 (call it 800) is a whack to pay for a small prime, we are not talking about one of Canon's superb, white, tele-zooms.
I live in Africa,...

A superb photo Anders, really good. Nothing modest about it at all !
You are absolutely right, DPR did not run a test, cannot think where I got that from. All they did is do a description of it...
