The difference between the image and what you see in the viewfinder changes all the time. The viewfinder is a little bit off the optical axis of the lens, resulting in varying parallax errors...

The XE1 is no viable answer right now, because there are no "real" wideangle lenses in the Fuji system yet.

Especially the way highlights are rendered with a nice soft filter can hardly be imitated in post. So I think these filters are still worthwhile.
