On Sony a6000 First Impressions Review preview (899 comments in total)
In reply to:

Droidie69b: Why no weather sealing or tilting EVF? The expensive lens line up is still a pain in the butt. Imagine if Canon, with all thier lenses and third party supporters launched a GX7 style APS camera with standard lens mount. What a Sony killer.

1. You have mentioned "imagine"
2. If that's real, it must be pretty laggy

Comparing to the NEX-6, sensor and processor have been significantly improved. AF performance is still mysterious. Hope it works well. I am not quite satisfied with the one on NEX-6. New C2 button is lovely, and Fn button is moved to a more reasonable place.

I doubt if the wheel works better than NEX-6. The place is not easy to reach with your thumb. Considering that mode dial is not as frequently used as the wheel, why not swap their position?

Hmm... I am considering A7R. But it may be less responsive in overall operation than A6000. And I got 4 APS-C lenses already. But I really love the photo quality from A7R. How should I pick?

Just feel crazy on the 1500 price tag... Is there any alternate such as 70300G?

radissimo: I found it hilarious that Dpreview posting rumors and "leaks" and at the same time they already have an camera in their hand, surely they will post preview or first look review at the day of announcement! ;-D

That shows how professional DPReview is. Every one knows there must be NDA with the manufacturer. But for rumors of major products they still want to share some news with us. So the only way is to give something still in rumored status. I personally think this is pretty much acceptable... and hilarious :D

I don't like 460K LCD.
I don't like no touch screen.
I don't like no scroll wheel.
I don't like USB 2.0.
I don't like no in body IS.
I don't like no all of above but price is still high.
I don't like no replacement for F20AM flash with new shoe.
I don't like Sony made NO innovation, made NO step forward.

Sony made no innovation, it doesn't mean the world come to the end, but means I need to wait more time.

I am using NEX-6.
I am using NEX-C3.
I am using 1018, 1650, 18200, 35/1.8
I want 85/1.8
I want 1650/2.8
I want 70300G
I want more and more and more.

Sigh.....................

Come on guys, you can't read my point. I want Sony to become stronger. Since 6 years ago I switched all gears to Sony because I can see his future VS Nikon and Canon. I want everything improved from Sony. Some basic features should not go back. Is 921K LCD special? Is touch screen special? Is USB 3.0 special? Not at all...... Is IBIS special? Even the lowest grade a37 equips with it. What's the reason of degrading on all these, with the fact that price does not drop?

For that replacement of F20AM, come on, adapter is a work around, not a solution, OK? Sony changed the hot shoe for a period of time already. I totally agreed that it should be changed because new hot shoe can provide more functionalities. But Sony should make responsible move on providing sufficient products, right?

To be frank, what I said is not my business. I am going to switch to A7R soon. But again, I WANT EVERYTHING IMPROVED, SONY!! DO YOU HEAR ME?

Very similar to Korean manufactured sports cars with the 1.6L engine. That's their style and way of thinking. LOL

siberstorm27: Why would anyone want this over a Lumia 1020? DPReview has already tested the 808 Pureview vs RX100 and the Pureview is comparable on many instances. Not only will you need a specific Xperia phone, but its an unsightly attachment that requires its own battery to be charged, is connected via wifi, and will balloon the device to the size of something even bigger than the RX100 sans lens. Having to attach and reattach a camera module really defeats the point&shoot nature of smartphones or even the RX100. It's also gonna be very expensive. Just get a unibody and completely packed together and optimized slim phone like the Lumia 1020 with a 10mm body and 14-15mm hump and don't bother having to have two expensive Sony products tacked together. Sony was suppose to have a real competitor with the Honami, but this thing is turning into a joke.

People don't want WP8 obviously! LOL

Any new technology should serve the purpose of providing better results. Obviously this set of images did not convince. We are here for photography. Please don't distract the argument to brand name wars or making moneys. To me, these images present a boring view angle and not as so nice as expectation. That's the immediate feeling at the first and then also the second look.

Anfernee Cheang: "Enthusiast" DC without hot shoe? That sounds funny to me...

I like EVF while all other specs are the same. However, without an EVF I still can shoot. But without hot shoe I can do nothing under certain circumstances. I'd prefer Nikon P7700 in this case, with same 1/1.7" sensor and a brighter F2.0-4.0 lens. P7700 does not have EVF, but instead it has a fully articulated LCD.

It sounds funny because even Panasonic themselves mentioned "enthusiast" in the announcement. Enthusiast DC should have some characteristics when comparing to entry-level DC. These characteristics could be larger sensors, fast lenses, EVFs, hot shoes, or more dials and controls, etc. I will not say all enthusiast DC must have hot shoe. But in the group review of "Enthusiast Zoom Compact Roundup" made by DPReview last Dec 18, 6 out of 9 cameras equipped with hot shoe, while only 2 of them equipped with VF.

I personally assume the target user group of this kind of enthusiast DCs should have certain level of photography knowledge and also their own requirements. To me, hot shoe is far more important than EVF. Now I am using NEX-6. But if I need to give up a item within these 2, I will say "take the EVF away". But of course, NEX-6 have both and make me quite happy while shooting with it :D

Sony, you are killing me with that external flash picture! I am using that adapter on F20AM and F56AM for long enough and when are you going to release the new flashes?! OMG, just can't imagine that such a big brand name made a sudden change without sufficient planning!

Anfernee Cheang: DPReview, will you fix the spec table which was copying NEX-3N? Some numbers just didn't look right... 2.7" 460K back LCD seems like a joke. And it doesn't look like it is fully articulated. Could you please also grab some information about the EVF resolution? Thank you.

I see. Thank you.

For the spec table, at least the subject should be changed, which is currently "Sony Alpha NEX-3N specifications"... And, image stabilization shouldn't be "Optical" I think?

But anyway thank you for your close monitoring on the events. That's not easy we all know :D

Peiasdf: Mostly marketing hype. The unibody design is simply a copy of iPhone5's and Beat Audio just means there will be more gangsta type playing music loudly on the subway.

As for ultrapixels, unless the underlying technology is an improvement over SONY's 13mp BSI tech, there will be no difference at regular screen resolution. The myth of lower pixel count = better low light image has been disproven with D800, Nokia 808 and RX100.

For 2013 phones, look out for SONY, Lenovo and Apple.

"Lower pixel count = better low light image" is not our myth but yours. The shining point is "2.0uM" pixel size. It's not just "lower pixel count" from what you said. If you cannot understand what this is, you'd better google it before presenting any nonsense. The most important is that we have not yet seen any real life images from this phone. So what is the base of your comment? Don't forget that when N808 was unveiled, it was also called hype but how about now?
