one more shooting into the sun to give you an idea.  I used the lens hood for all of my shots
  • I often use UVs for protection and take them off before I shoot, but this one is so thin, I thought I'd give it a try and it seems to work fine.  I went through about 20 shots and only had one ...
  • I didn't notice that it was bad so far at all.  I shot into the sun behind a tree and it made a nice star, but no flares and vignetting wasn't bad either.  I use LR5 and it has the lens ...
  • I research things for days, but once I make up my mind I act on it fast.  This lens will be a lot of fun and I'm anxious to learn how to use it.  Thanks for all of your help.
  • Just got the Canon 10-18 and I think I'll really like it.  I've never used a wide angle before so I have to learn how to use it.  I took this when I left the camera store just to give it a try.
  • I'm going to my closest camera shop and taking a look today.  I'm pretty sure it's the one for me.  Can't beat the price and it has been getting really good reviews.  Thanks
  • I've been debating the same issue and after seeing your images am pretty much sold on the Canon.  I was going to get a Tokina 11-16 or 12-24, but think I'll save some money and buy the Canon instead.
  • Thanks, I'll need it.
  • These decisions are never easy.   Most likely I'd use it more for lower light shooting, but there are times mountain hiking that I could see flare being an issue.   Thanks again.
  • Oh, I don't want flare so now what?  Was that with a lens hood?  Hope this wasn't with the 10-18 now that you've convinced me.
  • Except for not having a distance scale, which I'm not entirely sure I'd use for mostly distant landscapes, it looks pretty good to me too. I'm just nervous about such an inexpensive lens, but if ...
  • Thank you, at least I'm on the right track.  The Canon, even though it's very inexpensive seems to have great reviews, maybe I'll just save the money and go with that one.  I really appreciate ...
  • One final question. I've narrowed it down to the Canon 10-18, the Tokina 11-16 DXII. and the Tokina 12-24 I'll be shooting landscapes and sunrise/sunset shots with it, along with mountain vistas. ...
  • I would to with the Canon 10-18 but I read that it doesn't have distance scale and that's important to me.  Thinking now of the Tokina 11-16 or 12-24   Thanks again
  • Thanks for all of the links, it's really helpful and I appreciate it
  • Thank you for all of the suggestions.  I'll read up on them.  I doubt that I will have a FF ever, it's just that I would like one.
  • I want something just for landscapes, so wide angle. Since I already have the 15-85, I'd say something like 10-22 or so.  Has anyone had any experience with the Tokina  11-16 2.8?
  • Guess that's why I asked for lens suggestions.  There's just too many variables and I wanted people's thoughts  on a better lens than what I have.  I have a feeling that I'll just get more ...
  • Right you are.  But to me it would be sharper if it was faster in low light
  • Thanks, I'll check it out.
