Essentially, yes. Late film bodies were used for the first lot of DSLRs effectively. The good thing is they did not have to re-invent styling like Olympus (just to irk you as Canikon is Oly folks...

Tend to disagree: WE wanted added functionality, metering, AF, burst..... or THEY pushed it onto us, either way. Just have a look what bulk a single winder added to a "beautiful" one:

"I'm not a pack mule, hunking around 2,500lbs of kit just to take a single photograph."
It's a personal preference, true. So why would we care about your whining that some 450g makes the world of...

Nikon recently celebrated 75 million Nikon F mount lenses, a good part being MF. Almost all F-mount lenses work on current Nikon bodies - those that don't need conversion to AI (coupling).

and men become wimps. C'mon, ladies have been lugging their handbags and NEVER complained about weight. What happened to The Man?

The quest for "superfast" lens lost its point in digital days: you have incredibly clean high ISO and the choice to change it "on the fly". These two combined leave bokeh the only aspect for which...

Then get Tamron 17-50/2.8 non VC and be happy with it. I have 50/1.4 AI - too long for walk around. I thought I could do with 35/1.8, still too long (IMO) and will probably get rid of it soon. I...

if you are referring to a opaque (white) plastic, it is called focusing screen. It does not cover the sensor, that is where the image you see through viewfinder is created.

It's a very low budget to find any longer lens that would focus on your camera (like 70-300 G/D - non VR/non AFS wouldn't do). If lucky you could find 55-300 VR at bargain as people sell kit lenses...

If these are un-cropped shots from you T2i ( 5184 x 3456 pixels or close by), you could easily get 30x20" prints (@175 ppi), which would look nice on this print size.Whoever would print it would...

Sony Xperia Arc had it almost two years ago when we bought it and it works great - this may be excitement for iPhone users but proves they obviously missed a lot... OK, they now have that feature...

Is the first one something like prime (1.4/1.8) or similar while the other one is kit lens zoomed in so it's like 4.5 or 5.6 (wide open). few stops of light hitting the VF difference, that is...

Apart from comparing apples, oranges and bananas in treads like this, let me point on few things: perhaps shorter FFD saves some 25mm overall camera thickness - but that's it. Other saving...

Yes, very likely they (young families) would buy low end kit, which BTW will be fine with them and would do the job. What my point was (apart from obvious marketing) is that these guys are pushing...

As a debate about the future of DSLR keeps going on and on (and proponents of MILC and phone cameras gets louder claiming "victory and a death of DSLR", I have to share observation from...

To start with RAW - 12 or 14 bits? You do realise it's neither 8 or 16.. not to mention demosaicing how all those bites are packed. Look what happens when you have corrupted RAW/NEF file -it...

I'm in a process of getting 17-50/2.8 VC (Tamron). I tried non-VC and I like it, very sharp and quite comparable to 35/1.8 I have on D7100. The "loss" is offset by the ability to zoom wider - but...

As said, if this helps, the "bad" one is 20120515JE0368
The "good" one is 20130201KE2076.
They are both OEM Nikon - however, there is a small difference: the bad one has (next to round mark PSE)...

I have 2 batteries for my D7100: both are OEM Nikon and from day 1 I have had some concerns about the battery that came with the camera. Serial number is OK (not in affected range according to...
