  • Thanks, yes! Got it. That's one of those little things the manual neglects to mention (or is buried so deep it's hard to find). Thank goodness for wonderful people on forums like this. Elisabeth
  • Thanks Guy. Yes, this is mostly happening when I can't see the focus point, like when shooting the sky or at night. So having the turn off/turn on into infinity I think is what I'll use on the 12-32mm.
  • Thanks! Yes, through this thread I've learned that the lenses seem to be focused on infinity at power up, very helpful! And my 14-140 has a distance scale + MF on the lens, so I'm good with that one.
  • Thanks! Mostly this is cropping up when I'm either shooting the sky, or shooting at night (or both).

  • Oh that's a good idea - to prefocus. I can do that - I have a manual focus setting on the camera. I just tried it with the 12-32mm. I put it in auto focus, focused on something, then switched ...
  • LOL!! But you know what I mean. Getting the widest depth of field, I used to think equated to putting my lens focus ring on infinity (although now I know better). But if I don't have a focus ring ...
  • Edwin - Oh! That's great to know. I had no idea. So, when night shooting, and nothing is visible, what's the best way to focus without a manual focus ring? Thanks Elisabeth
  • Created discussions How to focus on infinity?
Hi, I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1 with the 12-32 lens. I'd like to make sure it's focused on infinity to get the widest depth of field possible. The lens doesn't have a manual focus or a focus ...
