Nanospeed1: Here is a petition for Sony for the uncompressed RAW implementation.... Please sign it if that's a critical issue for you (as it certainly is for me!)
I signed, please sign too you all !
brycesteiner: Still only USB 2? What's the deal? some of us use our cameras as the card reader!
Yes that's a shame !
Vanitas Photo: I simply love it!!! My only complaint (as an A7 owner) is why the flying f$%! they continue to use the same tiny little battery...
I would seriously urge sony to at least offer a large battery with high capacity to be used in the battery grip of the A7 cameras! :)
But the rest of the camera is pure genius!!! And I would love to see the difference in speed of AF with Canon glass vs older A7's
Great stuff :)
There should be 2 batteries in the grip !
Am I the only one shocked by the price ? 3200 $ !!!
The A7R cost initially 2300 USD...
The RX1 does enter a large jacket pocket, the RX2 should even be smaller...
The Leica Q is too big to enter a pocket, what's the advantage then to have a fixed lens ???
martindpr: What is the purpose of having a B&W camera in the XXI century?
Shoot color and then desaturate! Or let me guess: If you have a B&W project, you leave your D810 (or your 5D3/5Ds) at home, go buy one Leica and do the job 100% better than you would have done it with your D810??
"brings the black-and-white-only concept up to date", they should have said "brings the date back to the old black and white concept"
A 36 MP Bayer sensor is more like a 18 MP BW sensor...But RAW development has apparently much more latitude with a Bayer sensor.
halfwaythere: I have to pause and pick up my jaw after reading the prices.
Basically Zeiss is ripping off E mount users.
I guess DSLRs aren't dead yet since you can pick a faster Sigma 24/1.4 for less money or an excellent 85/1.8 for much less money. If the rumored Sigma 85/1.4 Art is close these Zeiss lenses are pretty pointless.
GlobalGuyUSA, the FE system is not even 2 years old and this summer the lens range will be excellent already, what lenses are you missing ? Only a very long telephoto. You forget that CANIKON took YEARS to build the same line up.
The Zeiss 25mm f/2 is a great answer to the Fuji 16mm f/1.4 !And what a good timing !
Incredible picture congrats ! What lens did you use please ?
Well deserved win !
Yes it's fantastic !
Well I see corn in the picture, you should have been disqualified !Joking, the picture is awesome, well deserved win !
LukeDuciel: I am looking (eagerly) forward to A7s mark II.
Maybe for internal 4K recording and IBIS ?
Well after 22 years of use a replacement should happen one day or the other...the thing is that ironically we need it less than before when we had 56K connections !
Same author as this photog... err.. thing:
Very interesting challenge :P
Voting starts when submission time is ended !
joe6pack: I assume stabilization works on legacy lens too? Say, user can enter the focal length, etc?
With the announcement, I think the A7 will drop below $1000 this holiday season.
Just 2 years ago one would have never imagined to get a FF camera for under 1000$ !!!
left eye: It's looking much more mature - design wise, the A7's fingerprint magnet smooth paint always troubled me, glad sony didn't miss this opportunity for a stippled finish!
But seriously yes apart from the IBIS news, I assume that larger grip houses a larger battery!!
- arh I just checked sonyalpharumours, it's 'reportedly' the same FW-50 battery ;-(
Maybe in the A9 the grip will hold 2 batteries ! :P
