It's clear they let the designers 'play' a bit w/ the LCD, LEDs, dial/button setup, astro mode, etc etc. Nice to see a company 'go there' w/ unusual but very useful features.
Since the company is in Australia, I wonder if this isn't the hardware implementation for the ArgyllPro ColorMeter or at least if some of his code is in it.
Welcome to capitalism. Charge what you think the market will pay. In this case, Canon is obviously sitting on a warehouse full of them so they need to get rid of them as their value is decreasing by them sitting unsold.
