Matrix metering does what's required (i.e. provide correct exposure) most of the time so I mostly use it on my V1s - and as those of you who own a Nikon 1 know, these cameras rarely mistake...

Good contrast, colors are nice too and the bokeh is rather pleasant; also, they are sharp enough, at least for my eyes and taste.
Keep them coming!

And I am curious to see what kind of "look" the images you shoot with each of these lenses have. Hope you find the time to post some samples soon!

$800 for the body + either lens or $1000 with both lenses.
So, it is absolutely clear that this camera was designed and its production and marketing planned for before Nikon decided to "rethink"...

I agree with you that it complements the Nikon 1 line-up quite well. It's still very much a niche product though.
I agree that it should provide much better IQ than the FT-3... at three times the...

Well, as far as I know nobody here in this forum asked vehemently for a waterproof (down to 15m) version of the J3. But I may have missed a post or two... ;)
On the other hand many here (count me...

All because Nikon is still not listening to its customers.
Sony just launched a waterproof Android smartphone with a 20MP sensor a few days ago. Compare it to the AW1, in terms of gadget-worthiness...

Bravo! I think you deserve a lot of recognition for this and I hope Nikon gets the message.

Nope. I have described in some of my previous posts how I hold large F-mount lenses on the V1: basically I hold the lens in my left hand and operate the V1 with my right hand.
V1 body is mainly...

so I am not really sure what to make of this rumour/announcement. Also, anything rugged/underwater/waterproof is designed-in for a smaller, more specific target market and carries a premium, so I...

Hi,
I agree that the 10-30 will give you more flexibility to frame the shots that you want. Also, I would use the camera in S mode @ ISO 200 and set a shutter speed around 1/250 or faster to make...

OK now, I read the whole post by Thom but this single phrase summarizes what he has to say about the Nikon 1 system. And imho he is not being...

and the V2 around f/7.1 because of pixel densities. Imho you really don't want or need to go above 24MP on a DX sensor.
Just my $0.02...

This shot would possibly have been sharper at f/8 or even f/7.1, which is about the limit for the V1.

Well done! Thanks for sharing! And keep these still lives coming, they are really good!

Incredible how the V1 adds "grit" but keeps the colors right at ISO 3200.
Joe, you really manage to work some magic with the V1! Thanks for sharing!

Some great shots in your galleries!
You shoot both color and b&w very well!

Hi,
Well, I have to say that for $10 to get an 8mm (21.6mm equiv.) lens it's right within my budget!
The quality is what it is and of course the IQ of the 1 Nikkor WA zoom is waaaay better.
Here is...
