mumintroll: I don't get it. Why nikon or canon just not add 4x FF sensors together in 2x2 square. And have medium format much cheaper.
@dr8 I was just about to write the same. And of course software could remove or fix any inperfection.
There is many lenses for medium format. Older ones are very cheap.

tkbslc: If Sigma wants to grow their camera business, they need to put some effort into designing at least one model that has a bit more all-around utility. I am amazed at the detail at ISO 100-200 from these cameras. However, the lack of ability to shoot in lower light, stray more than an hour from a charger, shoot video, or focus on anything moving, means Sigma cameras are not really an option for more than 1% of photographers.
I'm also suprised that with their poor high ISO, they continually affix slower lenses to their DP line. Give us an f1.4 lens and maybe I'm OK being stuck under ISO 1600. And with battery issues, an OVF tuned to the attached lens would be a good solution.
@yabokkie Foveon wrong direction? Said who? You? Foveon has the best IQ and colors at low ISO from all APS-C cameras on the market.
michael19843: Interesting camera. I suspect it will give far better images than the Fuji X100 and X100S.
You can bet on it. Even Old Merrills give far better results on low iso, than all FUJI cameras.
Tom_A: I have the XE-1 which is ergonomically the same, the XE-2 is mainly better regarding AF-speed which is indeed average on the XE-1.I find it a very nice travel camera. Typically I just take the 35mm f1.4, I also have the standard zoom which is good as well but the 35 is truly impressive.Historically on my Nikon D200 I always shot raw and then spent time finetuning in photoshop. I found that unless the light is really difficult, the XE-1's jpg quality is very nice. I typically set the camera on "velvia" (saturated) colours when traveling, I like that people look a bit healthier on holdiay snaps than they look in reality! My D200, while a bit antique, is stil a nice camera in the lower ISO range, and it is built very sturdily. However for travel the XE-1 has won my heart.I also like the old-fashioned controls, I don't have to browse through menu's, in essence I shoot with it like with my vintage Nikon F3.
I own D200 as well. Unfortunately it has some hot pixels on higher sensitivity. I have many nikon lenses, so I'm gonna buy nikon again. I'm wondering about Fuji too. But buying new lenses and all other stuff(filters) would be to expensive to switch.
Why I cannot take pictures, like these? :-(( I'm pretty mad.
I know it's not year 2013, but the best fixed lens camera is Sigma DP2 no doubt. IQ is FAR!!! better than all other fixed lens cameras on the market. All Sigmas Merrill are superior.
Don't believe? Check this photo of Prague from merrill DP3.http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1196562
jadot: Stick a 35mm equiv and an OVF and I'll dump my X100s.
I would never switch from X100s to this ricoh. Even if it has 35mm.
Finally. I was waiting for camera like this. Absolutely perfect for hiking. Time to switch for my heavy D200.
Corners are really bad. Center and around is perfect.
I would like to see how nikkor 18-105 is doing. Not included in tests. I think for that price range is perfect lens.
Sam Carriere: Amazing what some people will pay for a logo.
Really? So tell me which non zoom lens FF cost more or is even comparable in price?
Matt1645f4: Can we have a X-M1 v X-A1 comparison please so we can see how much of a difference that xtrans sensor makes.
I totally agree. This is be or not to be question.
Very nice. Well done.
skytripper: $10 a month is not alot of money, but Adobe CC is an extortion scheme at any price. No thanks.
And they just trying lure people to their system. Catch them and then rise the price. They will be caught already so leaving for them would be difficult.
Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha. I predicted exactly same thing. Because their stupid concept didn't work. So is better to lower price, than say how stupid we were. :-)))
Michael Ma: Perfect timing! I just bought the GH3 yesterday. Trying to find workarounds for the moire... :/
@VisualFX. You are wrong. X-trans has also moire, BUT lesser. ONLY cameras absolutely moire free are Sigmas.
If I would general manager of nikon, first thing what I would do is reading forums and try to understand what people want. Then I would give an order to make that camera.Of course not such bull*** like FF in RX100 body and 35x optical zoom. But normal suggestion from normal people. But apparently the general manager doesn't read forums about photography. :-(
