Kilty Scotsman: Purchased 2 for me and my wife to take up a new hobby.
Within first week managed macro of bumble bee and another with x10 62mm filter added, helicopter flying past and could zoom in to see pilot.
Love auto tracking focus for moving objects.
The settings and menus seem endless but we are getting there bit at a time.
Panorama picture is amazing the way it puts it together all in one shoot.
The whirling noise is minimal only really notice when in a quiet room, outside don't notice it.
Almost forgot I set up my ipad as a remote control for camera using wireless connection, took about 1 minute. Then using Lumix free app. A lot of settings are available in remote including zoom. Ipad displays what camera is viewing
Going to set up tripod near my bird feeder and try to capture some close ups of all the birds using remote control. Pictures can be downloaded using wireless, pretty quick for file size.
I like Sony but what we got for our money for the FZ1000 is certainly more than I expected.

jillespo: I currently have the FZ200 and love it, but I'm getting the itch to upgrade. Is the FZ1000 significantly better than the FZ200, or should I be happy with what I have?

Oldbeen: I've just received my copy of the FZ1000. Right out of the box it is making a constant whirring noise which sounds a lot like the small cooling fan in my laptop and is almost as loud. It is louder than the focus motor or zoom sounds. It stops when the camera is in playback mode.
I contacted Panasonic support who told me that it is normal and is caused by the OIS (which can't be switched off on this camera). This noise is also quite different and much louder from that on my FZ200 which I hardly ever notice and has never been a bother. But I find this noise in the FZ1000 very disappointing and disturbing especially in a $900 camera.

If I want to keep this camera it's going to take some getting used to. Has anyone else encountered this "normal" problem?

Aguolo: I still can't find any answer on this issue, please FZ1000 owners, could i have your opinions on this ?

Here's my problem. It's the first time with a stabilized camera that when shooting in a quiet place, The mic picks up that much IS noise. I've upped a video of my son : http://youtu.be/MurpDFPqpKE).

The longer the zoom, the noisier it gets (more stabilization needed) and my ear can clearly hear this background sound.

Does it look normal to you or should i contact the seller ?

PS : I essentially use it for video. would it be just for photos, i wouldn't care.

Busque en el manual de usuario:

Desactive micro zoom

De menos ganancia al micro.

Edfrgo: The review of the FZ1000 says the lens is a "tad soft" at the wide end. I shoot a lot of wide shots and a "tad soft" is a concern to me when considering a purchase because I often make prints in the 11x14 and 16x20 inch range and need all the sharpness the lens can muster.
Can anyone elaborate on their wide-angle experience with the FZ1000 or better describe how soft is a tad soft and what limitations I need be aware of.

Serenus: There are no examples about the slowmotion possibilities and borders in the article. I own the camera since 1 week and tried some slowmotion scenes. The results are very positive - sharp and smooth movements, i stretched it in Premiere until 17% and it did not ruckle! But on the other side it is not possible to change camera settings during filming neither zooming or focusing. So you have to prepare your shots very carefully.
I made a little film about the slowmotion of the fz-1000: http://youtu.be/Ruq2VgHabaU
