Yes the TX30, a nice unit to be sure. I guess after the TX7 I decided I wanted a more standard control layout, so decided on HX30 type line. So now looking at the HX50, but those get a bit bulky...

To each his own - there's no right answer here. I find the most important pictures to me are the ones taken in the moment, capturing things unexpectedly - equally video as stills. Things that...

Well keep in mind you need a lot more than 2MP (HD monitor resolution) to make an 8x10 print look good! :) Anyway your point is correct. Who cares what things look like at 100%? For 99% of...
-
I may be mistaken but the press release didn't specify which camera the WX300 was an improvement over! Also the new HX50 release specifically mentions a two fold IS improvement compared to HX200...

Well I just looked at the rx100 manual and it states: [Clear Image Zoom] is not available while recording movies. Seems it just has standard digital zoom after 3.6.
-
I would probably, but a real EVF, not a joke version which the LF1 has (200k-dot? Really?) Compact cameras should just have a separate mount for a hi-res external EVF. Would be simple, and I think...
-
Of course it would be nice to have. Would be nice to have 200, or 1000x too - a pocket telescope. The assumption of course, is that it affects camera size and lens quality/speed. Wouldn't you...

Rx100 question: is that extra zoom available for movies? If yes, I may reconsider rx100. I think around 10x zoom is enough for most things, certainly 15x. 30 is getting ridiculous.
-
Well let's not get carried away. This RX100 image:
http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/reviewsamples/photos/2166277/dsc01502?inalbum=sony-cyber-shot-dsc-rx100-review-samples
is ISO200 and isn't...

Hopefully HX50 improves image quality a bit? Guess we'll have to wait for the reviews. If only RX100 had all these features! That one gets crossed off my list for its lack of zoom.
-
What other compact super-zooms have faster lenses? They all have about this lens type, and this size sensor, as far as I know. There aren't many in this category however.
-
Quite a nice upgrade from HX30 I would say! Sort of wish they'd dropped down to 14MP or something instead of upping it. Anyway the hot shoe is nice - I'm most interested in an external mic. The...
-
So minor bug fixes then. How about fixing the massive exposure 'fluttering' that happens when zooming in video, which I see in every video on youtube that shows sky? Also the poor auto focus in...
-
Obviously none of this is true. But if it were, it would be because they sold like six of them worldwide. :D Who wants a $3k camera with a permanently mounted lens? Of zero interest to me,...

Other than being thinner, I consider it a step down. It should be since it's in the W series. I like this site for...
-
Good point, and I doubt HX50 would have that. I think they could do much better with audio on the compacts though...improve isolation on the mics, and pay attention to camera parts that make...
-
As a new HX30 buyer, I'm pretty sure it will go back if the HX50 becomes a reality! I hope an external mic. would be an option.
-
Actually from the short times I've used my HX30 so far, the image stab. is quite incredible. For video it appears to be fully hand-holdable at full 20x. That said, I've always thought about 10 or...
-
A major reason I chose the HX30 other than for price (less than half) was the zoom for video use.
-
Video looks good thanks! We could use some standard handheld, moving around, up at sky and down again, zooming, testing AF/AE, etc., footage also. (Sry to be demanding, i'm sure you plan to...
