Whoaaaaa Nelly!!! I think Leica maybe in a little trouble to say the least. these images are good. Especially the low light. Leica will still kill them softly with their lenses...albeit expensive ones.

Eden S: Unfortunately I think most of the people posting here fail to realize the potential for a camera like this. They see no further than the current product in front of them (basically a prototype.) Imagine in the future now, employing the concept behind this camera into larger SLR bodies, VIDEO, stereoscopic photo/video with unlimited depth of field, maybe an f1.8 shot with unlimited DOF, underwater stuff where light is limited, military equipment, etc. Even I can't fathom how this can change how we capture, so I wouldn't be so bold as to condemn the technology. Some people have absolutely no imagination, yet they take up a hobby or profession like photography... Then they post here on DPReview how they want technology to stop evolving just like they have.
This is exactly what I said before. Don't look at the camera itself. Look at the Technology behind it. I really don't think Lytro wants to compete with the juggernauts of the DSLR world, but I think their technology can be incorporated into future cameras made by all camera companies. All they have to do is sit back and collect the $$$ while also selling towards the 'fun' market. I mean most people were thinking the mirrorless camera by Niikon was going to be a flop....well go check Nikon sales results for the first quarter...pretty impressive.

cheddargav: 2 things: 1, Isn't this site called DPReview, not DVReview? 2, I can't say they've helped ease my concerns that they care more about video than photography. Sony and Nikon seem to care more about my needs tbh, perhaps they deserve my money more...
Does you DSLR have video. Rest my case

Juraj Lacko: For me as a photographer this news is not as interesting as releasing of new dlsr. But i believe this video camera will be highly capable of making really fab movies and I am looking forrward to go to cinema to see films made with it.
Dude you just got a new DSLR LAST WEEK. Give it a break and let everyone have their shine.

Tee1up: I've wasted an inordinate amount of time following the sagas associated with mirror-less cameras and in the end it seems that in spite of the 2% increase in size, DSLR's still represent a technology that works better, more often than anything else.
I too was eagerly following the x100, NEX-7, etc but it seems that for the average pro-sumer, a D90 or something similar will cover all the bases.
What many have to understand is that although many people want smaller cameras, many also want versatility. I love my D700 with Vertical grip. But sometimes I want a simpler lighter camera. I remove the vertical grip slap on a 50mm/1.4 and go. I have larger hands so ergonomically i can carry the camera comfortably all day if necessary.

This argument can be made for any good point and shoot also. For you weekend warrior, artsy, young and trendy types its an awesome tool. You can do some amazing things with it. I mean you can even get an adapter so you can have a viewfinder etc. But alas its just a tool that will yield you good images NOT great. What many have to understand its not just about compactness and smaller size. Ergonomics play a key role on how images are also captured....lets face it you are not going to capture a wild Crane/Heron capturing a fish in its claws with razor sharp precision and the subsequent images that follow ...also in the same razor sharp precision and clarity. What about build quality and the ability to be able to take a knock or two (well I guess you can buy a ballistic bullet proof i-phone cover too) Also with regards to ergonomics is hand size. I love the feel and heft of a full frame digital SLR. I am a big man with large hands and big feet too. The point is capturing the image.

marianco: The Nikon D4 seems like a clone of the Canon 1Dx - but with slightly lower specs such as lower resolution, etc.
and best of all....LOWER Price. :D

Jun2: Love my M4/3. Hardly use my DSLR any more. It is stupid to use a system that flips the mirror.
well for snap shooters yes.. how does that dust on your sensor do for ya when removing lenses without a mirror shielding the sensor.

JackM: Lipstick on a pig.
Does it have a wooden vertical grip to match. If so I would buy it immediately......NOT!
:D
