drsm: nice shot . the focussed head is sharp but the antennas and the upper left leg too are OOF .The background is very much distracting as we cannot concentrate on the pic for long time.If u can blur the background more it will emphasize ur subject more.
Thank you so much for you interesting POV. My emphasis was on the eyes of the insect. the antennae were closer to me hence the oof which I appreciate. I will try to upload another version to showcase the detail on the eyes. this photo is called also "building a home" for a purpose I wanted to display not only that this has the requirements for the challenge but also the social behavior of the Paper wasp and that is the reason I included the second wasp on the background. My use or rule of thirds was mostly applied on the Focus point on the Main subject instead of a poositive\negative aproach. I could "blur" more the background. but I really prefer to keep it unmodified other than few tones and brightness and the crop that I have already applied.
CG33: Nice picture. Can you blur a little bit the one on the background?
I could. It is the natural bokeh that the lens gave me but I think the emphasis on the focused main subject is enough. at least for my taste.
Ha! Nice symmetry contrast and detail and smart shot too :)
What I love the most of this image is the prefect curvature of the stem.Very nice.I see all these all over the grass here in Orlando FL I will attempt to get the same success on detail that you got here.
I think you improved the image a large deal. it pops more
I find this one interesting but I wish the bg was more bokehlish :P
Maybe a crop closer to the bee and a bit of contrast and vibrance will help a bit to remove some of the distraction on the back and make the bee stand out.
Sexy Pretty Lady!
ysal: What an amazing shot, great colors and detail. My only problem here is also whether is meets the "spring" challenge.
Oh Here in Orlando Fl you see a lot of those Paper wasp in spring. http://www.tri-cityherald.com/2010/09/11/1163980/remember-to-trap-wasps-yellowjackets.html
Poor Little Plant. I wish I could see more of the snow texture.
I like the Angle.. so interesting. I might start trying that
A crop would be the fix for this photo. giving you the illusion it is closer to the Dragon fly. Those Shapes and textures would show up more
I find this one Lovely. Nice Bokeh nice contrast. I would try to remove the other flowers on the back to avoid distraction
There is a lot going on Maybe a wider aperture would have helped focus more on the butterfly.
Beautiful Colors and DOF I would like to see another version with a little more Vibrance
