Beautiful bokeh here - but - the foreground petals unfortunately don't seem to be in focus. Was that likely slow shutter, a breeze?

YOU are so right - its all about the next 4 to 8 qtrs; compensation is tied at "C" level primarily to stock valuation.

YOU are so right - its all about the next 4 to 8 qtrs; compensation is tied at "C" level primarily to stock valuation. This was a response to 40daysago. Next poster - sorry - but the problem is...

Attended a seminar by Jen Wu last weekend where, amongst other technique, she discussed how clearly defined fore, mid and background create visual interest. Obviously your image's highlights and...

Interesting that when the 24-85 was included as part of the D600 package at the end of last year (which I bought) regularly this lens was being bashed as being mediocre in numerous posts.
I'm using...

Also as an owner of a D600 what focus settings do you tend to use for action shots, considering the small autofocus area.
In general what is your technique for tracking objects.

Where was #10; beautiful composition, shooting and whatever postpro.
I moved in January to a D600 from D300, very pleased at increase in iq capability and greater flexibilty.
-
As a generally positive D600 owner, the snapshooter is also not going to be pleased with the smaller focus area.

Correct - depending on current and desired skill level - and price concern.

As an owner of a D600 (after upgrading now three times in 4 years from a D90, then D300 to this affordable fx model) this body produces amazing iq. Not to pick a fight with the folks that report...

Deceptively simple image which is made interesting to me primarly by the highlights (including the grill) and to a lesser degree, the shadows.
Sounds like an alot of pp effort - would be interested...

Per your pbase images - can you offer some background on your tiger shots - guessing a zoo of some type. They were shot on tripod? What was your focus program and where did you typically focus?

How petty this snarky stuff gets even though your photos are consistently exceptional.

I have numerous friends who are phenomenal photographers who only use zooms - at least when we go out a couple of Sunday mornings a month to shoot - and can use whatever they want - so don't think...

All I was trying to say - Thank You.
Additionally, not everyone has unlimited funds to spend all the time, nor is it even necessary when spending wisely.

Sad how too many people here judge equipt apparently by cost.
I just happened to shoot a track meet a week and a half ago with my d600 and used my "piece of junk" 70-300; not my best nikkor but was...

Bought at a local Anchorage Alaska camera shop while on trip across Alaska as needed more reach.
Lens has a good iq, it is slow, does hunt and is very light as is virtually all plastic.
As with...

Doing same trip and seeing the "pile-up" that I've heard of in this photo.
Am coming to think that the big divergence here is birder focus vs. elephants, tigers, wildebeest, etc; where the birders...

Gary:
Your pbase gallery - especially your birds in natural settings - are spectacular. Seeing work like yours makes dpreview worthwhile.
I'm shooting a D600 today primarily with the 24-85 and my...

With the dramatically higher ISO's enabling multiple addtl f-stops producing as good or better IQ and bokeh; is this an outdated strategy? .... and I don't mean this as a flame.
Yes - some can...
