Third rate compared to most real cameras. Just because it's competitive with the rest of the garbage in that segment doesn't means it's any good. IQ out of water is woeful, so there's not much hope...
-
Here's a tip Olympus, be the first manufacturer to make a high quality water proof camera, with superior optics and RAW output and you'll take that segment of the market over. The IQ of the tough...

What a joke, same price as a Sigma 35 f/1.4, for a lens a fraction of the size and weight that only has to cover a 16mm image circle. Try $499 max.

Nikon is well known to be soft at infinity, which is a major deal breaker for say wildlife work when you are FL limited. While the Canon pricing is insane (then again what is the price of the Nikon...

Oh ryansholl that's brilliant. Made my day.

Hmm I wonder if they could do a FW update for OM-D to add 1/8000 shutter, and ISO 100?
-
Price shocked me, it's almost OM-D money. Would be good value if the the new EVF were included or the 17 f/1.8 were the kit lens.

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

All of the above except the last one. Price too high, too few installs allowed, can increase price without warning, but now if you don't like it your software is disabled even though you may have...
-
At this stage you mean. My worry is how long before DxO, Phase One, etc say this a nice way to increase prices. I actually think it should be illegal as this comes down to this whole issue of who...

GIMP still is an 8 bit only program, so that rules it out for me as I work with 16 bit tiff's until I save the final jpg for printing.

Hardly allays our worst fears. Once LR joins the circus, you'll be paying a lot more than $79 and you don't own it. Looks like Photoshop CS6 is my last update. So yes you brilliant plan succeeded...

Not really, for me that would make my mind up on the zoom. If the prime were truly tack sharp or f/1.4 and $800 I'd be all over it. I've been spoiled by the 45 f/1.8 which is my prime benchmark and...
-
You mean like the 45 f/1.8 which fits that description. Why would we expect such quality at such a low price ($350) and small size. It cannot be done I say.
;-)

Just amazed at how bad these cameras are and they are the state of the art, Apple excepted. It's pretty sad to see P&S sales plummeting for this slop as it's not even close. Good enough for the...

mmm'kay Feel better with your rant.

I hate DPP, but it definitely handles shadow pushing better than LR. If I have to push shadows 2EV or more I'll use DPP.

Turning up the sharpening has nothing to do with extracting fine detail. C1 actually reveals finer details even when you turn down the sharpening. It's not a huge difference, but it's disappointing...

IMO LR4 does not extract as fine detail as LR3 did. Swithcing betwen 2010 and 2012 process I see a definite loss of very fine detail. I hope LR5 can address their demosaicing and match C1 7 for...
