All of the above except the last one. Price too high, too few installs allowed, can increase price without warning, but now if you don't like it your software is disabled even though you may have...

At this stage you mean. My worry is how long before DxO, Phase One, etc say this a nice way to increase prices. I actually think it should be illegal as this comes down to this whole issue of who...

GIMP still is an 8 bit only program, so that rules it out for me as I work with 16 bit tiff's until I save the final jpg for printing.

Hardly allays our worst fears. Once LR joins the circus, you'll be paying a lot more than $79 and you don't own it. Looks like Photoshop CS6 is my last update. So yes you brilliant plan succeeded...

Not really, for me that would make my mind up on the zoom. If the prime were truly tack sharp or f/1.4 and $800 I'd be all over it. I've been spoiled by the 45 f/1.8 which is my prime benchmark and...
-
You mean like the 45 f/1.8 which fits that description. Why would we expect such quality at such a low price ($350) and small size. It cannot be done I say.

Just amazed at how bad these cameras are and they are the state of the art, Apple excepted. It's pretty sad to see P&S sales plummeting for this slop as it's not even close. Good enough for the...

mmm'kay Feel better with your rant.

I hate DPP, but it definitely handles shadow pushing better than LR. If I have to push shadows 2EV or more I'll use DPP.

Turning up the sharpening has nothing to do with extracting fine detail. C1 actually reveals finer details even when you turn down the sharpening. It's not a huge difference, but it's disappointing...
-
IMO LR4 does not extract as fine detail as LR3 did. Swithcing betwen 2010 and 2012 process I see a definite loss of very fine detail. I hope LR5 can address their demosaicing and match C1 7 for...

Terrible specs for a phone and a tablet - welcome to 2010. Waste of effort and resources Samsung. Stick to making the Note III even better than the Note II

The jpgs are ISO 3200 for the two Nikons and Sony are pretty ordinary. Switch to RAW and the Sony is noisier than the Olympus OM-D at ISO 3200 by a country mile. The OM-D is still competitive with...

What hand are they biting. You don't have to buy the 700D if you already have a recent Rebel, and if you are looking at a new DSLR as a first time buyer, it's a nice camera. Sales is what Canon...

I have to laugh at the responses. Yes I think it is an utterly lame announcement and if you own a 550D-650D it's a pointless upgrade, but Canon will sell boatloads. it will easily outsell the D5200...

Apart from the ........ what have the Canon ever givin' us? Well they given us the 700D Splitter

Actually this product makes some sense as compared to the totally unnecessary T5i, but I wonder if it means Canon's heart is not really in mirrorless. An EOS-M2 + several more lenses would have...

Looking closely at the RAW output, in no area of the scene does the GH3 do better than the GH2 and in some areas it is worse - a bit less detail for sure. Also as you push the iSO it is only...

Completely disagree about the close-up performance. I was using this lens for several hours in the Botanic gardens shooting at f/2.8 to f/5.6 and even wide open the shots were nice and crisp. I was...
