MrTed: Is ACDSee Pro 6 faster than Photo Mechanic in terms of initially launching the application, and then to cull a large number or RAW images?
ACDSee 5 Pro and prior versions have been slow to start for me. I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit with 8 GB RAM.
Any one feel ACDSee Pro 6 is faster than Pro 5 from an image browser perspective?
daniel fritzen - When I shoot Sports, I need to cull 400-500 images quickly to get 3 best shot to press after game. I want speed immediately to find the best images. Then I will load the rest 'keepers' into Lightroom's database for processing into a gallery for sale. So no, I don't want to wait for ACDSee to create a database of thumbnails... I want to quickly see the images immediately when first open the folder. For only 29.95, ACDSee 6 is tempting, but Photo Mechanic seems to be extreme faster than ACDSee 5 and lower at just image browsing. The Free ACDSee is good for browsing, but I can't tag images with that to make it easy to cull.
Per Gothmoth response, seems there is not improvement for browsing speed in ACDSee 6.
