Placed 24th in the challenge. The photo shows a street sign right in front of Iceland's Prime Minister's Office, Lækjartorg, Reykjavík.
It might be just a simple sign, announcing that the parking area in front of the building is reserved for the Prime Minister ("Forsætisráðherra"), but to me it means so much more.
Iceland's current Prime Minister is Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir. Not only is she one of the most powerful women in the world, she is (successfully) leading Iceland through the financial crisis, improving the welfare state and promoting Iceland's integration into the European Union.
In the 1990s - against all impediments
she was confronted with in her own party - she raised her fist and declared "Minn tími mun koma" ("My time will come"). Now, eventually, her time has come. With her strength of purpose and her inspiring courage, she is the woman who has no fear at all.
In this way the image conserves one of the most emotional moments I experienced in Iceland.
