You are trolling or you really don't get it.

I was always struggling with 50mm lenses. I thought that it's much easier to frame with 35mm. Somehow 35mm is always working for all kind of situations. However, I also noticed that when I forced...

Yeah but the 40mm 2.8 can only do nice OOF backgrounds with macro shots. That's why most sample images I see in different galleries are macros, I guess. I think it's a bit weird. Like people really...

I think you figured it out yourself. It is the IS operating. Perfectly normal.

You should either learn to pull focus manually, or buy a camcorder.Even if the STM worked with the 5d3 (I don't know) it will be crap. And it's not silent either.

It seems weird on the first glance but after seeing the video it looks really useful and may improve my main gripe with lightroom, which is slow navigation for processing a series of images. I wish...

I can't see it replacing my 50mm 1.8.They have the same weight, both kinda slow AF. The 40mm is more compact, but do I really care about that, given that the 5dII is already quite a brick?I'm...

I came to realize that when I did photos at a party where I was a stranger to most people. I did many shots of people and groups, then I handled the camera over to a girl friend of mine who knows...

You got a point that it's too early to judge the available gallery photos, I'm sure there will be more impressive ones soon.I agree that the lens is good value, considering the sharpness. It's just...

I'm griping that it's not f2, like the Voigtländer. When I'm out doing serious pictures I grab either the workhorse 24-105 or a bunch of (heavy) primes.I take the nifty fifty when I want a light...

I have my own take on this, when I lug around a full frame camera for casual shooting (which is the point of the 40mm I guess, being small and light as a selling point), I'm looking for things to...

I would love the pancake if it was f2, or had IS at least.I can't see it replacing my 50mm 1.8, even I really have a love/hate relation ship with it, only because it always misses focus, which none...

Well I really want the 50L, but in this particular case I wonder if a tele wouldn't be better suited. It's much easier to get crazy shallow DOF and I don't see the exaggerated perspective an...

looks really good!
one question: does is save the resulting hdr as raw file, or only jpeg?
-
You answer your own question. I dont get it. What is the obsession about "protection" filters, like if they would actually be of use for anything?
-
The sharpness is the least important factor I'd be concerned when speaking of portraits. The 100L is obviously sharp, but more importantly, it has great micro contrast, colors and bokeh. Images from...

It's perfectly possible.
Look at youtube for digitalrevtv:

They shoot most of their review videos with this lens and a 5dII. No rig. You an see it...

It works great, esp. with the 24-105, because it doesn't have those latest aggressive hybrid-IS, like the 100mm macro. While the hybrid IS is really steady, it can cause "jumping" when panning.
