This is a lovely shot my only advice would be that if you used some sort of filter or post-processing on the top portion of the photo it is making the clouds look a little too purple.
But really...

I guess I could simply do a mass export to TIFF files from the raw everytime I want to dump a sandisk to my computer but it seems i'd have duplicate files at that point and may lose some of the...

I agree with most of what you say especially the "most likely" scenario aspect of it. However, there is the odd gig that falls outside of that needing a true artistic vision, generous post-work...

Considering I just bought the entire CS6 with LR5 this is my plan as well. I'm not going to deny I love this setup but I hate the idea of the CC...complete corporate buzzword fad marketing with...

It depends on what the client ultimately wants. Some clients are satisfied with shots that look like they were done for a year book or at Olan Mills, other clients may want a fully re-touched shot...

It's a lovely idea for a shot but that is one of a few things putting a wrench it the end-product here. I think the masking is off but then again the dress is a bit too blue as well IMO. I think...

So I guess Nikon users are out of luck. I have a D700 and several SB-700s and use the 603 triggers now that are just simple full-manual. The *only* thing I don't like about them is that I have to...

These triggers are capable of transmitting TTL data from camera to a TTL based flash, however, my question is if I can adjust manual mode settings as well?
Frankly, it is not so much TTL I'm...

Lovely shots...proof that megapixels are FAR FAR FAR from everything when it comes to good photography.
-
AMEN!! But you wouldn't know that by reading the forums on DPReview.

I do like the look...only at 100% can I see some kind of painterly feeling.
Looks great overall though.

The pano really changes the perspective here and frames the image.
Great composition on this one and lovely shot.

Lovely shots....my favorites are by far the sunset ones with the cactus. Did you use HDR for that? I find that those sunset scenarios work very well with HDR.
-
Nice work...very pretty shot.
-
I do like it as a whole but when I zoom in at 100% it looks like a painting sort of; what kind of filters/plugins did you use?
-
I think these are good shots but some of the HDR-type ones are far too "cooked" IMO such as the carriage and Eiffel Tower. There's halo'ing going on there that I would try to avoid.
My best advice...

Pretty darn good attempt at making this interesting!! Great work!
-
True. It's many times possible to make a photo like this interesting through some PS work but really the source picture suffers from being un-interesting in composition.
-
What specifically about the HDR don't you like. I think the HDR is fine actually but the source material isn't very compelling the way it is composed/shot.

I agree. You need to just dive in an struggle through it for about a week then it will start to feel natural and be one of the best tools.
