I have noticed something.

The base of the bayonet mount has been redesigned in D4 compared to older bodies. Since Canon EF mount is wider than all of the cameras in 35 mm format
Canon was able to use any lens with a dedicated adapter.
And the above photo of D800/D700 side by side confirms that the space
housing the lens bayonet has been enlarged. According to me though.
Perhaps Nikon comes with an option of several bayonets integrated to their
pro bodies -F mount being the standard offering- to accommodate Cine lenses of
any brand with dedicated bayonet add on.
M lenses on D800E !! Zeiss Yashica mount AE lenses on D800E!! Oyoy
well the feeling of it was a winner for me.
