40daystogo: Why would anyone carry a 910 gram Canon 7DII, when the latest Sony A7II slightly over half that, and is close to getting the same fast focus, maybe not in this A7 iteration but certainly in the next.

For users that need only a narrow range of lenses, the mirrorless solution seems better, and even that factor will be a moot point in a few years when given enough time to develop Sony's growing range of Sony and Zeiss lenses.

poor AF poor battery life poor lens choices simple

excellent now if it only had a better AF to go with the low light performance I would have bought it, not in love with it's battery performance too

After using it for 20 days I disagree with few point

1)AF coverage might be a bit small but its accurate fast even in low light I also use the D600/D3s
2)does not show battery life true but the battery is very impressive 2000 shots easily
3)light weight making it easy to carry around

ThomasSwitzerland: Nikon: Are you sleeping?

I don’t need a „look-a-like“ of the Olympus retro mistake. Nikon, I need from you a real mirrorless innovative hi-end camera in order to avoid buying the Sony, and I want to have less weight without plastic lenses.

what you need is not what I need.....good for me :)

Bjorn_L: I am a Nikon shooter. I currently shoot mostly FX. I would not buy this camera for half the rumored price. What does this camera solve that that d610 and d800 do not solve better for less?

The point of a stripped down FX body would seem to be to give a low cost entry for photographers not wanting or needing to pay extra for features they don't care about. Leaving out features and charging a premium for that just makes no sense.

On the other hand leaving Nikon pro DX shooters to choose between the ancient d300s and the consumer d7100 also makes no sense. The d400 is long over due and should be their next body not some niche thing like this.

That and of course they should make a camera capable of fast video focus so Nikon video buffs aren't torn between manual AF in video or buying a GH3.

I guess nothing makes sense :) , you know for me this would have been the perfect body if they just had used the D800 AF&battery with 8 fps for 2500$ I would have bought 2

NR already said that the info about the price was fake but that not my issue here, my main issue is please Nikon don't cripple the AF I don't care about the price

ButterflySkies: I was hoping they would make a small change to the AF system.
The only reason I don't own a D600 is because all AF point are clustered in the middle.

You are thinking like a marketing manager not like a consumer, But that strategy that canon used for years protecting the pro bodies by not having a good AF system in their 5Ds backfired on them, they realized that when the D700 stated hurting them. As for the 6D I can understand why they crippled its AF because both bodies have same resolution so having the same AF system would have made them both almost exactly the same specs. As for Nikon I do not agree the resolution difference is big enough and Nikon shouldn't have worried about the D800 sales.
