Benarm: Silver award is very generous for this heavily handicapped DSLR. Canon got away nicely.
I don't get the negative reception this camera is receiving. It appears to be a great example of a no-frills "photographer's camera". The bells and whistles people are complaining about are either items you'd find on Pro cameras, or consumer cameras. I like the route Canon have taken.
PS: just because it's a budget camera doesn't mean it needs consumer features.
PS2: just because it's a budget camera doesn't mean it can't be an enthusiast's camera. Not all enthusiasts are rich.
AngryCorgi: What an ugly piece of junk.
ugly, yes, junk, no.
Jan Kritzinger: Okay, so the EM-5 won... but the Nex 6 wasn't even an /option/ in the poll?
Nuts.
Guess what, Mike, I did, as did others - DPR didn't bat an eyelid.
Vlad4D: So why NEX-6 was excluded from the list?
OM-D is good but NEX-6 is even better :)
and ... Happy New Year !!!
There were numerous objections re the exclusion of the Nex 6 in the comments on the poll, DPR didn't bat an eyelid.
Alberto Tanikawa: If Sigma made an Art series 50mm f/1.2 or even f/1.4... it would become my first Sigma lens! And that's meant as a compliment as I'm a die hard Nikkor fan :)
I just bought the current 50/1.4 and it's a great lens, but I'd buy an Art series version simply for the USB functionality.
Jaelkay: I'm sure Sigma cherry-pick the lenses they send to DP Review and other reviewers.
The Sigma 35 f1.4 I have is nowhere nearly as good as my Nikon 35 f1.4. The borders on the Sigma are very soft when compared with the Nikon.
Oh, so YOU own the Nikon and therefore the Sigma can't be nearly as good?
Please, tell us more...
Why is the SLT A57 on the list but not the Nex 6?
luxor2: As shown in the photo of the poor hipster trying to use the viewfinder, the finder is placed poorly for easy use, he has to jam it into his nose and tilt his head to peer thru it. Horizons probably won't be level, a "hipster camera" look?
However, finder is good for vertical shots.
- knows what a fixie is, denies having one [check]
- knows Crystal Castles, denies liking them [check]
- Denies being a hipster [check]

VadymA: His arguments are not convincing at all.
Yeah, the problem is he's just defending the price - I don't mind the price, I mind the UGLY
ET2: Unfortunately for Hasselblad , the lunar bodies that they are showing at the floor says (if you go into menu)
Body: NEX-7
Ver. 1.00
Lens/Mount Adapter
Ver. 01
I thought at least they should have taken the time to change that part ...
Given this Nex-7 example, I pretty sure the other two cameras they are planning are A99 and RX1 with Hasselblad name tag and woods
Please put more effort next time. Sony is not making traditional DSLRs anymore. A better strategy would have been if Hasselblad offered a DSLR version of A99 ...
I don't mind that it's a pimped out Nex 7 - that concept has great potential.
I do mind that it's revoltingly, disgustingly, horrendously UGLY.
Why couldn't they take some styling cues from their Iconic designs from the 60s.
Marketers and "designers" ruin everything.
peevee1: One of the best mirrorless cameras, excellent value, but so damn ugly!
how many times did you fall on your head?
mpgxsvcd: Wow Olympus out sourced the entire camera to Sony this time. Even the body looks like an NEX.
Nex is waaaaay better looking.
looks cheap & ugly, both of em...
Looks cheap.
The only reason to go with big camera and small sensor is profit margin, since sensor cost ramps up exponentially as size goes up.
Kudos to Sony for going with bigger sensors in smaller bodies, in stead of the other way around.
MortonH: Why all the focus on sensor sizes? Isn't pixel pitch more important? The RX100 has a larger sensor but nearly twice as many pixels. Or did I miss a square law somewhere?
The RX 100 has more AND larger pixels.
Have they finally fixed the lens mechanism issue?
Only good thing about this camera is that it lowers the price of the S95 and S100.
photo nuts: So, 3 duds in a single day announcement: 6D, G15 and S110. Well done, Canon!
Canon can only sell cameras based on brand name for so long. They're heading for a fall.
Betting the sensor will be crap, particularly ito DR.
