I don't need and probably won't buy a FF but Pentax needs one to stay in the market against the big two. If they don't produce one they will eventually go the route of the doodoo bird.

Thank you, now I'll sleep better tonight.

John_A_G very generously reminded me that I didn't answer your question correctly so let me try again.
I have not used the 60-250 for indoor sports but I have used the Sigma 100-300/4 and the Sigma...

I was only giving him a comparison of the lenses. I have always felt that more information, when making a decision, is helpful but if I offended you I sincerely apologize. I will have my wife beat...

This a comparison of the Sigma 70-200/2.8 II APO DG MACRO HSM (some don't like this one) to the Pentax 60-250.

Please forgive the quality of these pictures. They are scans from film prints taken many years ago.
These were taken at the Dachau Concentration Camp. The first picture is a statue that stands...

The shots were taken at appx 150ft (45m) and offset from perpendicular by about 5ft.(I was more interested in the point of focus).
The color difference shows up best on the full displays. You may...

I got the 60-250 for travel. It's just about the same weight as the Sigma 70-100/f2.8 but with a wider range. The Sigma 100-300/f4 is just too heavy to lug around. My main purpose is for travel...

I was playing with the 1.7X version and I believe I accidently saves that copy so what I displayed to you was probably sharpened and had some noise removed. Sorry.

As you see from my posts further down the thread, further tests of the 60-250+1.4X seem to work great. I have cence tested the Promaster 1.7X and had no problem with it either. I don't know if my...

I forgot to add "+1.4X TC" to the text in the lower left hand of the pictures.

These were taken with the Tamron 1.4X TC (TAMRON-F AF TELE-CONVERTER 1.4X Pz-AF MC4). Some were taken with a Circular Polarizing Filter which are noted "w cpf". Those without the CPF are noted...

You made me second guess myself. My first experience with the 1.4X TC was on a tripod so I probably should not have been so enthusiastic without more testing so this morning I tried the 60-250...
-
I don't know about anything more than a 1.4X TC but I would have no hesitation with the 1.4. I had no trouble auto focusing with it and that makes the 250mm equal to a 350mm. Don't know if that's...

They were shot in jpg. The center post of the tripod was pretty extended so I used a higher ISO to get a faster shutter speed and I shot mirror-up with a delayed shutter. I felt that if the ISO...

Yes it is the F/4 Sigma. I am very pleased with the Pentax 60-250. It looks to me as good as the Sigma and in a side by side comparison the colors of the Pentrx are richer.

This is a comparison of the Sigma 100-300@250 to a Pentax 60-250@250, both at a 1:1 crop. Focus was on the last "1". Why does the Sigma show larger even though they were both taken at 250mm? The...
