  • These photos fit into the category of less than exciting images due to the less than photogenic and interesting time of year.  Nonetheless, the dogs and I are out there every day trying to stay ...
  • Replied in Mid-summer
Mid-summer is the least photogenic time of the year around here, IMO. It's also the time when my (already limited) artistic juices are at their lowest ebb, due to the heat, humidity and the fact ...
  • I love the shot of your cat. What a beautiful critter! Does he get along with the pup?
  • It's always good to hear from you, Jane. Did I miss a thread you started? I don't check in here as often as I should. At any rate, I think it would require some rather serious pixel peeping for ...
  • I have both lenses, like both and feel that each has its purpose. The 18-55mm gives me IQ that is plenty good enough for my purposes; and is much easier to carry around. The 18-55mm is much more in ...
  • Created discussions In the mist over the falls
This is nothing even close to the spectacular scenery I am privileged to see here, but there's a little brook on my place that mostly runs through a deep ravine. Here and there are a few small ...
  • Thanks to all the well-wishers! Me and my brother, Chase, like to play in some of the little waterfalls on my Dad's place in the summer heat. Life is good when you are one!! Thanks again! Joy
  • Hard to believe she's one year old already - time goes by too quickly for men and even more quickly for dogs. Joy has certainly lived up to her name and brought much joy into my often ...
  • Submitted a challenge entry Mini-waterfall on my land
This waterfall is not nearly as spectacular as many of those posted, but it is actually responsive to the theme of this challenge. This is one of several small waterfalls in the little mountain brook that runs through my property, deep down in a ravine, seen by very few people. It is one of my favorite contemplative spots, especially in the summer heat because it is always cool from the water mist and forest shadows in the deep ravine and the noise of the water makes it feel like you are truly alone in a peaceful, natural world.

  • Due to nurse issues and lousy weather, I’ve haven’t been able to get out to really test/use FW 4.0 yet. However, we took some runs just here on my place and I was able to use FW 4.0 a little to ...
  • Replied in New puppy
What a beautiful puppy!  May you and he enjoy many years together!
  • Thanks to all who participated (well, everyone except the rude Mr. win39  :-) ).  This was a good thread - an interesting read and I've learned a lot. I doubt anyone cares, but where I have come ...
  • Summer is my least favorite season - humidity, bugs, sweat and lots of grueling outdoors work in the heat, such as firewood gathering - plus no hunting. So, here's a little relief from the ...

  • I've been wrong many times in my life and I may be wrong here, even though I was obviously just offering an opinion. I'm happy to discuss the merits, or lack thereof, of my opinion; and to learn ...
  • Having read yet another interesting thread on FF Fuji cameras – this one about competing with the new Sony A7r-II ( http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/56036777 ), I’ve finally figured out where I ...
  • Replied in Thank you!
Thank you for the kind thoughts!  I may well make another run down there and do some more exploring/hiking when I have the nurse coverage.  As I make my way through this dense, but very ...
