RuthC: This is a dahlia, not a chrysanthemum.
Thank you Ruth. I wasn't sure and was hoping some expert like you may help it here. I will withdraw this entry.
Thank you Ruth, never seen that one before, OK grasshopper it is.
not sure if this qualify, feel free to reject
I appreciate your kind words. While I like this image a lot, I wouldn't imagine it could win this contest with so many great entries. Happy to see that someone like it as much as I do.
Thank you both for kind words. I agree that sometimes the voting results are total mystery to me, but as all to me is about having fun, I am not complaining.
We all read the rules. The rule which you omitted is that you will DQ all photos you don't like. You DQ my entry twice, saying it must be creative bokeh AND light, not only the blurry background. Now I am looking at the pictures in this challenge: complimentary bokeh, muscovy duck, tulip, blooming bush, moto girl, blooming bokeh...tired of mentioning all others. They either don't show light or have any creative bokeh, yet still here. You either state AND follow the rules clearly or be prepare to receive such comment. In any case, I am sure that many, like me, feel disappointed here. I know, I will pass on your future contests.
By EquusStorm (4 days ago)Beautiful shot of child's face . . shadows are just right. I might try it with a very dark right side of the photo.By Bangers and Mash (4 days ago)The lighting is nice and the expression on the child's face, priceless. Greater bokeh in this shot, or better yet not having the person in the background would have added major punch to a great shot of this child.
By marmoset (1 day ago)Cute photo. The ponytails add to the cuteness so good call on keeping them. Also, good use of open shade; it makes great light for a portrait. The focus looks like it is very slightly in front of the eyes but you can't really change that.I feel like the inclusion of the person in the background is a hindrance. Either the person's face needs to be visible (but blurred) or have them absent from the frame. I realize that's not something you can easily do with processing but I mention it because it transforms this photo from portrait status to snapshot status. By barb_s (3 days ago)I like it with the mom in the background and I think the hair-do goes well with the expression.By petit58 (3 days ago)ponytails go...By wacissa (4 days ago)makes me smile, drawn to the eyes
Yes, the dog's face takes the cake here. I agree with Margalit that more space around could add to the picture.
OK, I tried to crop and can't make my mind, ponytails-stay or go?
Is a nice cat, I like its expression. Have to agree with comment about orange tint , colors don't look natural here. Also would like to see whole ears. On the side note is hard to judge pictures, which are posted at full size.
Monkey portrait, very original. I like its pose and colors here. My only wish here to have more contrasting colors in the background, as is the body is kind of blending in. Other than that is very nice shot.
Very nice shot, I like the colors of it and the child expression is priceless. Only thing comes to mind is to try severe cropping, maybe only face and shoulder and if not, than lift some shadows.
Very nice portrait. I like the skin color and its contrast with the background. My only suggestions is to crop the sides a bit and show the top of the head.
Is in interesting concept, close up portrait. I like colors and the general mood of this composition. I like to see same shot, but taken with super wide open lens, like F/1.2 or F/1.4 on FF, just to see how really, really shallow DOF would play. Also, reds on the right side seems bit blown to me.
I like the idea of panorama dimensions of this shot. Nice sharp picture with pleasing background. I like to see just a tad bit more saturation of the grass and sky, but that's purely personal.
Great shot, I like the blurry background and the sharp eyes. Is this one shot or some PP here, background look too pretty to be natural to me. I would change anything, is a great picture!
Very cute pup, no doubt about that. Is a nice portrait, my only problem is too little contrast between the object and the background. I would play with highlights/shadow and contrast to see more difference between the fog and the ground
Is an interesting subject and I like the composition. I would try to liven up the sky and a water a bit, maybe more saturation, or different color curve. Also, the trash gotta go!
Nice snapshot. Agree with being a bit soft, so maybe a bit sharpening and bit tider crop would improve it.
