Look for a 16MPix m43 cam on sale. All cams of this generation provide good IQ, fast AF and some are currently very cheap.
Depends on what you need: For an unobtrusive cam choose a cam like the...

Liked the 12mm shots. Cropping away most of the dark water may improve the image, to dark in the front for me.
For the last FE shot the technique described by Anders may help, see...

Try to get a Oly 14-42 II (R) used, good quality (near Pana 14-45) and small when collapsed. Here in Germany used one go for have the price as used 14-45 lenses.
Alternative would be the new Pana...

There's currently no tele converter for m43 system available.
There are some tele extenders available. These are mounted like a filter in front of the lens. No idea if these will work on 100-300...

Reducing on IQ doesn't explain the current prices. For normal use the IQ difference is small, lets say 10% just for a number. So price would be a little bit cheaper compared to 16MP Oly cam.
But...

Don't like the PEN style (and similar NEX): Too wide in comparison to height and depth. But of course being pretty is not the major point of a camera ;-)

Hmm, yes. The 19mm loses a stop but you can push the ISO higher (20mm banding issues). If you don't need the DOF effect its cheap. And for wide angle think about The Samyang 7.5mm fisheye. Very...

It's a ice option but a niche product. Good for video with manual focus, not for average customer use.

They published the technology since their patents will we published soon.Checking their descriptions (see the PDF referenced earlier in thread) it looks like the pixel pitch need to be small, in...

Some mathematical details from nature article: http://www.nature.com/nphoton/journal/vaop/ncurrent/extref/nphoton.2012.345-s1.pdf Looks like a pixel pitch of about 1µ is required and the micro...

If one uses different capacity on 'sum' pixels than on 'sub' pixels the electrical signal wouldn't differ too much. But I think we'll see Panasonic patents quite soon. Otherwise they wouldn't have...

Not sure. It just replaces the color filter in the stack, so below the micro lenses so the micro splitters should behave similar.

It's much smaller than a microprism: Size below the wavelength of light. So the dimension will be approx. in 100nm range. Not sure about available diffraction angle. If only small angle is possible...

Other question: Why is the slow Sigma 19mm so long and the fast Panasonic 20mm a pancake?Looking at four-thirds.org it looks like the optical groups used are quite different and result in different...

Make a 300 out of a 150mm you need a 2x TC, even if its internal of the lens. Just add some additional length to the 150mm. The more obvious way: Add an 1.4x TC internally and an additional 1.4x...

For size and weight have a look at the Panasonic 150/f2.8 displayed at CP+. Add length of a TC 2x converter and you'll have an approximation of a 300 F5.6Now think about a small 300/f4 again...

Joesiv, the motor would in the adapter. MT lenses without any electronics would AF like native mirrorless ones.

Add an AF focus motor to this and every manual focus SLR lens ever build will work niche on mirrorless systems. Much better than on any (FF-) DSLR. SB v2 is what I'm waiting for.
