MT Images: We have an S90 and have shot over 10,000 pictures. We also have a G12, 7D and 60D. Besides the obvious "the best camera is the one you have with you" the S90 can be held in many more tight, unorthodox positions for unique shots. The biggest issues we have with the S90 are: 1) you can't fix the focal point to the center (or better yet move it like the G12) and 2) it has trouble acquiring focus in macro mode. Sure it has manual focus, but try to do that on your knees 1-1/2 inches from a flower. So I would love to have DP review tell us precisely how/where focal point is determined and what options there are for setting/adjusting. And some real world low contrast macro focus acquisition tests. My real dream is an EVIL with APS-C sensor, all the external physical controls of the G12, the tilt screen of the 60D, and 2.0 or faster 24mm or 28mm pancake lens (OK some telies, too). And I'm prepared to pay $$$$$ for that.
MTImages, you fix the focal point of the S90 to the center by choosing menu/AF frame/center, but as the closest focus distance is about 2 inches, it won't focus if you get closer.
