These people know how to capture images. I still wonder why so many bother with the Nikon/Canon crap ...

William Woodruff: Just a quick note while you have time to change this: You do not have your title watermarked in your border as specified in the rules.

Apologies and thanks, I will withdraw it and resubmit it with border and title.

How low can a company get?

Why on earth every mobile phone manufacturer tries to copy everybody else’s design is beyond me. Holding a tile in your hands and/or next to your ear is not exactly elegant and it certainly does not take better pictures. Even the unofficial name for such monsters 'phablet' sounds demeaning. No wonder that the N8 still sells at a good price in eBay and elsewhere :-(

So, it is a plastic buoy ditched 8 meters bellow the water surface standing 2 meters over the sea floor. The real colour is yellow and the white strands are actually squid eggs. In this respect OldArrow was almost there in guessing what it is. The white markings on the buoy itself are the standard barnacle like creatures that take over covering every surface possible under the water. Thanks for visiting ...

It still puzzles me that none seems to "remember" the K5-IIs! Not even the dpreview people. Do I smell something bad or is it my imagination?

On Fly by in the Concept Gone Awry - Nice Shot! challenge (1 comment in total)

I was only aiming and framing for the building and wanted to include the old fashioned street lamp to contrast the modern with the classic. The seagul happened to be flying by but with the slow shutter speet it came out as a blur but I liked the effect of having some 'motion' included in the otherwise static image. The only post processing that I did is to erase a tiny part of the window I was taking the photograph through on the upper right corner.

RuthC: This interesting capture was taken in Greece, near the sea.
I think these are some type of parasites' or mites' eggs, but I hope someone out there will know more about this unusual phenomenon. All assistance gratefully received. Ruth :-)

Thank you!!!

The claw of a crab (the 'elbow') who is rather common in the Mediterranean. Particularly strong and tasty! Not much of a shot but I was curious to see if someone would guess exactly what it was.

On Dpreview Users' Poll: Best Camera of 2012? news story (1514 comments in total)

For reasons beyond me I, once again, noticed that the Pentax machines are underepresented. What happened to the K5-II and, even better, the K5-IIs? Are you people biased or what? Unless, of course, Pentax are being penalized for not sacumbing to current 'market demands' by making crap bulky cameras with no real viewfinders that take crap pictures that need endless post processing in order to appear nice :-(

Yet another ridiculously expensive Sony adventure. Get a K-5 instead. Almost as small and fully functional. And it DOES have a viewfinder for heaven's sake! As for the full frame, it is more of a relic these days than a really useful feature.
