135L is such a sweet lens. It renders so beautifully and images taken with it in good light look just like art. If you are doing portrait and mainly portrait I think this/or 85mm F1.2LII would be...

It's been a very busy season and I desperately wanting to see some animals. So I took my 1Dx + 500LIS combo to the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand to see what photos I could capture. Luckily I witness...

1. Low light focusing is the fastest amongst canon's dslr but i did compare it with NikonD800 and the result was the 1Dx was slower using the single focus point. But it's still pretty good, if not...

But even with tripod IS is still very useful on such long lens.

Wow thanks for the informative reply Russ. I think I will probably need some commercial mounts that will be able to support a canon 500L lens. The home made one looks awesome though but...

Thanks Richard66. I manually stacked 5 photos on Photoshop. Exposure are all around 0.6s to 1.3s at iso6400 - 12800. Shot with 5Dmk3 with 500mm F4 IS and 1.4 ext mk3. It's cropped and I boosted...

Not the best sky as half moon was present. Shoot with a Canon5Dmk3 with 500mm and 1.4x extender attached. Image stacked using Photoshop because tripod only. Only wish I had the tracking mount....

People's shooting needs change and that's the way it is if you love shooting. And 70-200 is probably the lens you won't want to sell. It as the best IS still. 100L focuses REALly slow in very dim...

Interesting...I am also in a similar situation deciding if i should get the mark1 version of the lens. It's a used lens so its about 25% cheaper but without warranty. I don't have a huge need for...

Hi Greg,I am a newbie for astrophotography and wondering about what equipments (lens/telescope, tracking amount, tripod) to get to get started. Besides doing wide sky galaxy shots I am strongly...

These are amazing photographs. moments well captured. Yes the 1.3x crop does provide desirable reach for wildlife.

I tend to go with the "buy less, buy quality" rule when purchasing gears. 5dmk3 is a wonderful camera and its a workhorse just like the 1D series 95% of time for day to day use. But at this current...

How does the 400 f4.6 feel on 5Dmk3? Do you feel you would "run out of light" fast? I have been wanting to get a supertele lens for some time. :)

Thanks. Very good suggestion to have it printed. Maybe I will wait for a bit to see if I can get better image otherwise will end up a lot of frames and I will have no place to store them.

Wow this is really encouraging! Thanks heaps! I will practice more in the zoo before spending big $ on safari when I can save up enough. ^^

1Dx and 70-200 shot inside the Auckland Zoo, New Zealand. This is cheating I guess but it's the best I've got. Poor man's wildlife encounter. I even paid for an annual pass to the Zoo so I can go...

Opps...so there's no edit button? This shot was taken in the zoo through a glass panel. I was only standing 2-3m next to this tiger. He was concentrating on his meal and occasionally lifted up his...
