But it's amusing to see that somebody was already whinging about the lack of a D400 as long ago as September 2010!
-
Amazing - you ask a question about JPEG settings but get a load of pointless replies from people telling you that they're sorry they can't help because they only shoot RAW!!
No doubt this is the...

You need to set the maximum aperture, i.e. smallest number, in the non-CPU menu.
-
I just assumed it's the number of posts made, though if that's the case then I have no idea how many one needs to reach each category. But, quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality!
-
That is a tad unhelpful and unnecesssary. Most of us have asked stupid questions and made fools of ourselves at some time in our lives. If you don't wish to help somebody grasp the basics then...

Can be difficult to find words to describe this sort of thing. Not quite sure what 'lash' might mean. But, on my 24mm, when I turn the focus ring there's a very slight delay before the scale...

You can only use Ai and AiS lenses on the D7000. Assuming it's like my D300/700 you enter the focal length and max. aperture in the non-CPU lens menu. You'll be able to use them in Manual and...

Try the D800 forum!
I only have the D300/700 so shouldn't comment, but have you got Active D-Lighting turned on? Could be something like that is slowing it.

Forget about it - best not to even look, though I suppose it's worth checking used lenses for fungus, which I would certainly avoid. All lenses will eventually get some dust in them, especially...

You can use Ai or AiS lenses, but pre- Ai will cause damage. You can check serial numbers here:-

I don't think you will get metering with the...

If you have a kit lens that came with the camera, try spending some time with it first set to 35mm, and then to 50mm. This will give you some idea as to which prime is best going to suit your needs.
-
There's a new version of the 50-500mm, with image stabilisation (OS, I think they call it).
-
That was my thought too, but I couldn't be bothered to check so didn't want to risk it! If I remember correctly AFS lenses can even be used on the later SLRs from the F4 onwards.
-
Why not go to Nikon's site and look for yourself? I'd be very surprised to learn that they still make many AF lenses, and can't think of any off the top of my head other than the 16mm fisheye,...

The light also comes on for red-eye reduction (using the flash, obviously) and self-timer. Trying these would at least confirm whether or not the bulb is actually working. As to the cleaner, on my...

You can of course use the histogram to judge the exposure, though it requires more effort and often, several attempts before you get things right. I never had the patience with my D40.
-
A large lens like the 70-200mm might look rather odd on a D40, but I would expect the results to be excellent. If you want it, then buy it now if the price is tempting.
-
Well if it also happened with a 50mm 1.2 then I wonder if the problem is in the camera rather than with the lenses you tried. As far as I am aware there never was a pre-Ai f1.2, only 55mm (or an...

You can read about the various versions here and on the preceeding pages:- http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/50mmnikkor/index6.htmShould be easy enough to search...

Even more bizarre, the person who resurrected this thread joined in July 2012 and was making his first post in order to correct somebody's opinion as to how Linux should be pronounced!!Chris
