Tee1up: I would love to have that RX100 for a week, just to see if I could get used to no viewfinder. That is really my only complaint with that unit.
Check out this handy little 3rd -Party accessory for the RX-100 called the Clearviewer (http://www.clearviewer.com/Products.html).
I have the RX-100 fitted with the Clearviewer and I find that I prefer it to an EVF. I do not have any financial or personal involvement with the person that makes this product.
DarcyAB: Can anyone tell me if any of the tablets, existing or comming, will allow me to transfer photos from my camera / card to an external harddrive for storage while travelling. Alternatively must I rely on continuing to carry extra cards (possibly cheapest option) or a laptop?
When traveling you can also transfer your photos from an iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air, etc. to online services such as Dropbox, Box, and/or Adobe's Revel. Dropbox and Box offer free storage of 2+GB and Adobe's Revel is unlimited storage, but is a subscription service.
I've used all three services when traveling with no problems.
snake_b: Still won't compete with an N8.
iPhone 4S - N8 - Nokia 808 which one of their cameras has better image detail or more phone features? ??? Would be great to see DPReview start doing some in-depth reviews of top-of-the-line smart phone cameras wouldn't it? After all, they do call themselves DIGITAL Photography Review.
And no, today's smart phone cameras don't match the quality of DSLRs and most P&Ss, but they do probably produce better images than those of the time period when DPReview first started doing their in-depth reviews of digital cameras.
Anyone from DPReview care to respond?
