Just received my D800 from service and the metering appears to be exposing to the left.
Any simple way to validate this?

I can't speak for the D600, but on the D800 my copy of this lens is too soft in the corners for my tastes.

Good point Chad. I would think that these trading companies were publicly traded companies and as such you would be able to examine their quarterly reports. Any profit spike would be suspect, but...

Wow, mine has about 1/3 that number of shutter actuations, plus grip and extra batteries.
If I could get $1,400+ for mine I probably would buy a second D800.

You might want to do some more research on the subject. Nikon's net corporate profit margin is down 50% this last quarter in 2013, despite the value of the Yen.
I think the net earnings are...

That is because Nikon is releasing a D840 in the next month or so, so they are blowing out existing stock.

I'd rent the Zeiss 21mm and try that first. See if it delivers what you are after.
You get the ability to use screw on filters, which is not easy to do with the 14-24. I know, there is a kit for...

I think you mean the Nikkor 14-24.
All are great lenses, but it really depends on what you need because each has unique attributes.
No one lens is perfect in every way, so you need to qualify your...

Wonderful shots.
The Tokina 16-28 f/2.8 AT-X Pro FX is an excellent lens for the price. Think of it as a Nikkor 14-24 at less than half the price, but 80-90% of the performance.
I rented the...

I assume that the 70-200 you are citing is the VR II and not the VR I, which (the VR I) I keep hearing has a teleconverter limit of 1.4.
As another poster mentioned, I should be focusing on the...

Great points!
I like option 1 and had not really considered the other shots (before and after).
Option 2 is really interesting. Not sure I could pull that off given that I mainly do landscape...

I have the 70-200 VR 1 with a TC-1.4II, which gets me 280mm at f4.
I see the following other possibilities by renting:
1. The new 70-200 VR II married to a TC-2.0
2. 80-400 VR (two different...

My girlfriend's son is graduating HS and I need to capture the event. I have not shot an event like this before.
It is held outside at the football stadium with about 700+ graduates. Time will be...

Considering it, but was waiting for more users to chime in, too.

Consider it from the customers' perspective.
There is a market for a widget that serves a need. Now Adobe came in with a high-end solution to those needs and a few other companies jumped in as...

Not true. You do understand how free markets work? Adobe's bottom line is directly tied to the end user and if they want to be profitable they need to follow their market.
In this case of changing...

Rent something for the trip that you might want to buy later.
The problem with wide angle and ultra-wide angle is cost. Wide angle (WA) is generally lenses of 35mm and larger. Ultra-wide angle...

My real reason behind my original post has nothing to do with your argument, but I simply hate recurring costs and have been recently doing as much as possible to eliminate them from our lives.
So,...

That means it is a non-starter for us regardless of how the numbers fall out.
